*Happily stamping away microscopic scales on a bird's foot bc there's no goddamn way I'm drawing those buggers one by one*
The world is falling apart at the seams and I must put the turbo on to paint four birds in less than a month lmao
Gonna try a new thing here and see if it works. My brother needs some help raising funds to move to a safer state. For every donation to his GoFundMe I'm offering commissions equal to the amount donated.

Graphite sketch of a vaquita, the world's smallest porpoise, drawn according to scientific illustration conventions (profile, facing left, light coming from the top left corner). Text on the top left corner is drawn in cursive and reads: Vaquita (Phocoena sinus), Conservation status: CR (critical danger).
La Vaquita Marina (Phocoena sinus)
Little sketch of the world's smallest and most threatened cetacean. I'm thinking of making it a habit of posting 1h30-2h sketches like this every Tuesday.

A sculpture of the shark-like fish Cladoselache swimming over a Devonian reef of coral and braxhiopods.
Cladoselache looked like a shark, but was a different sort of fish. The ancient, Devonian swimmer was a closer relative of todayβs ratfish than to sharks. Still, it was an active predator. Cladoselache gut contents include fish that were swallowed tail first, caught and gulped down. π§ͺ
Thrilled to share my first PhD publication - gannets put more effort into diving when they are in groups πππ

They were okay with murdering +20.000 Palestinian children, why would they have qualms about killing Iranian ones?

art depicting megapterygius swimming just below the ocean surface
a photograph of the megapterygius holotype as it was displayed at the national museum of nature and science in tokyo
happy #fossilfriday! bonus: this is megapterygius, a mosasaur from late cretaceous japan. at least 5 of its posterior dorsal vertebrae have neural spines that project anterodorsally, suggesting that it may have had a dorsal fin reminiscent of some delphinoid cetaceans
(art by @adamrl.bsky.social)
in a darkened ocean, the mosasaur-like ichthyosaur thalattoarchon's gleam with ferocious glee, blood floating from its open mouth
because of this, megapterygius could be described as a mosasaur that converged on ichthyosaur-like traits, a direct contrast to thalattoarchon, a triassic ichthyosaur that converged on mosasaur-like traits
