While there's attention on tarrifs, less attention on state of emergency Trump declared on US-Cdn border
Canada is now doubling down on border miltitarization ($1.3 bill, surveillance tech, 25% increase in deportation). And not withdrawing harmful Safe Third Country Agreement (border wall w/ US).
Becca Heller, IRAP Founder, published an important opinion piece on @thehill.com, recalling lessons learned from the first Trump administration's Muslim ban and how to fight back against his latest slew of heinous policies.

Co-research I recently published on what this question does in initial therapy conversations: “If coming to talk to me were part of a Project— although not necessarily the first part, nor the most important part—what would that Project be called?”

It is definitely not the most intuitive workflow, and it has lots of limitations, but once you “get” it, the workflow and limitations become part of its charm and influence what comes out of it. Some of my favorite musical ideas were accidents or things that couldn’t have come from any other gear.

“All sectors of great wealth concern themselves with speculative futures trading. […] if they can restrict news via algorithm and restrict access to real time information, this […] allows for a much more powerful grasp on the leash of our collective behavior.”

From a linked article: “Tucker says the National Park is in talks with the Grand Traverse Band ‘at a government-to-government level with our treaty obligated conversations and morally obligated conversations.’”
Props to NPS for respecting treaty obligations and nation-to-nation consensus building!

It matters that you care.
It matters that you feel.
It matters that you notice.
It matters that life lives through you.”

“He says it doesn’t matter if you draw,
or write books. It doesn’t matter
if you saw wood, or catch fish.
It doesn’t matter if you sit at home
and stare at the ants on your veranda
or the shadows of the trees
and grasses in your garden…

Awesome succinct list of strategies for effective organizing. Lists like these remind me of how things I am already doing can be shaped into praxis, when it is easy to feel like I need to be doing something dramatically different to effect change. open.substack.com/pub/antiauth...
Books, books and more books. Sometimes we put on music events. Tim does the 45 Revolutions Night at Doors Pub. Non-stop Rocknroll 45s downstairs/ bands upstairs. This Thursday- two local bands Night Chill (the dark side of garage rock) and Peer Review (debut show for local punk Rock band.)
I live out of broadcast range and haven’t been following online - has WDET been covering the city’s hostilities towards Black-owned Detroit Farm and Cider?
Also trying out this platform, and wrote a bit more about this hopes for all of this.

We talk about his gospel show from the ‘80s on wcbn.org, as well as influences from the legendary @wdet.bsky.social Detroit blues and gospel broadcaster Famous Coachman and play tapes from both.
This is an episode of a radio show about cassette culture I hosted called Magnetic Selects, which explored the unique aesthetic aspects of the format, its role in documenting and producing culture, as well as personal histories. This one features my dad!

It’s a fun problem to have though - I’m thinking of it as a field of dreams kind of opportunity. If I post about what I’m inspired by, thinking about, creating, etc., perhaps connections will arise around those things? Or perhaps it can be a public-facing journal or sketchpad to develop ideas?
My only intention for joining Bluesky was to forge a path away from meta for my social media use. Now that I’m here and don’t have a network, I realize it isn’t obvious how to use it / without the relationships I have there to guide what I post, I guess it’s up to what I care to post into the void?
