...kind of like a more pleasant sounding version of prepared-guitar era Jim O'Rourke (Remove the Need, Tamper, etc)

agreed. it's very engaging
i find this album very listenable. i have the LP.
easy to get around - walkable, reliable & convenient public transit, decent roads.
@disciplinepr.bsky.social i've worked with Dan Volohov at Discipline PR on several projects, and highly recommend!
BUT WHAT'S YOUR DIAGONAL GNOSIS?
heh. no record label i've ever worked with has paid for writing and rehearsing, and only rarely for actually recording...so maybe the savings are just to not have to deal with asshole artists. π€£
I've never felt better about having zero children.

i think i've gone solo to shows significantly more times than i've gone with other people! it's great!
i wish the stickers were available for individual purchase. i love the sticker that came with the 'Staircase...' preorder. i have the books aready!
i guess just have to get really into period dramas, or something...
iβve developed a real hatred for the constant cell phone notification dings/ringtones in virtually every show/movie set in the present day. i turn all that shit off on my own phone, only to get assaulted with it when i try to chill out and watch something.
it's awful.
Monnette Sudler is amazing on this!
Milford Graves Full Mantis
i rarely pay attention to lyrics EVER, unless they jump out at me as really good or really bad.
Wanderers by Chuck Wendig!
Pitchblende 'Au Jus'
a masterpiece of angular, mathy melodic noise rock. it must be a victim of some sort of record label/publishing rights weirdness, because it's not available on any streaming services with the exception of this video: youtu.be/yvbJ44J4q68
it was great! i loved playing James' songs. i was in the studio for 2 days & we tracked 5 songs. only 2 of them are on the record, though (Adie & Home and Horizon). hopefully the other 3 will come out someday!
i just put up an album of guitar improvisations heavy on asynchronous looping and slowly evolving clouds of sound. enjoy! (or dont! π€£)

i played on that record!
Serious question: What's stopping the State of Illinois from arresting Stephen Miller & charging him with incitement?
The Senate didn't confirm him. He's just a guy.
At some point, the states MUST use their authority to prosecute, because the federal government certainly will not.
i like Loop for sleeping, but they block out too much sound for listening, imo. i use Hearos for music. Etymotics are similar, and also work well.
hmmm. i've never been a weed person & i love Jim's music. suddenly it all makes sense.
Bands should never, ever share footage of themselves in the recording studio control room tracking βheavyβ music while theyβre chilling in an ergonomic desk chair, wearing shorts and flip-flops. It totally kills the mystery
Martyrs (the original, i've never bothered with the remake) has a home invasion element. although it goes...a lot of other places....
some local pals playing country punk with angular guitar weirdness sprinkled throughout - definitely evokes Meat Puppets vibes at times. americanbeautifulness.bandcamp.com/album/normal...
you mentioned you thought it was self released - if it's on even a small independent label, the artist likely has to pay an agreed upon rate per copy which is unlikely to just be the manufacturing cost. plus if the records had to get shipped to artist, that can be costly. $40 does seem steep, though
