A screenshot of the Polymarket website showing a prediction market titled "Nuclear weapon detonation by...?" under the Geopolitics and Ukraine categories. The market displays three betting options with their current probabilities and "Buy Yes" or "Buy No" prices: "March 31" at 5%, "June 30" at 12%, and "Before 2027" at 22%. The total trading volume shown is over $843,000.
Polymarket has created a betting market on the use of nuclear weapons. Everyone involved in this should be put in prison for life.
Immensely grateful to share an amicus brief on birthright citizenship, submitted to SCOTUS last week.
We present esta of the impacted child population (4.8 mil children in next 20 yrs alone!) + financial contributions through 2074 under status quo ($7.7 trillion!).

To be clear, running the most ethical plagiarism machine does not make you good, you don't gotta hand it to them, etc., but this is the best thing they can do for their business. The tide is turning against the fascists and they're probably correctly betting on their downfall.
This week's cover @thelancet.com
Glad that @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social was able to make this happen but also letβs not normalize a system in which the secret police kidnap students and then they are released only because the mayor makes a call to the president.

How are we getting more snow?!
Someone explain to me how this is effectively distinct from what Russia did to the Ukrainian children they stole and put up for adoption to Russian families.
Praise βIan Carrilloβs field research comes alive in this excellent book, exposing a firsthand understanding of how racial dynamics infuse one of the worst industries in the world for its contribution to forced labor, poverty, and environmental degradation.β - Wendy Wolford, author of This Land Is Ours Now βDrawing on rich ethnography and candid interviews with planter elites and regulators, Ian Carrillo exposes how racism hides in plain sight in Brazilβs sugarcane regionsβwoven into everyday practices of Brazilian modern democracy. A critical intervention, the book illuminates the co-constitution of race and labor, uncovering the racial tropes and power structures that fuel one of the worldβs most exploitative industries.β - Graziella Moraes Silva, Associate Professor of Sociology, Geneva Graduate Institute
Blurbs for the book are now up!
lol hopefully flights late tonight but stillβ¦
Same for me with actors and those willing to speak out vs pretend they donβt know anything.
The broadcast was on a 2-hour delay and one of the winnerβs speeches was edited down when they ended it with βFree Palestine,β but they left this in? The producers did everyone dirty with that.
Because The Onion is terrific and needed! It was time to leave Twitter a while ago and I donβt regret it, but for some reason I havenβt figured out a posting rhythm on here.
This is exactly right. The Onion quietly left Twitter a month ago and... our weekly subscribers went up. It's because we're doing well here, on Instagram and on YouTube.
As a business, being on Twitter is somewhere between useless or detrimental, unless you're selling boner pills.
I miss Twitter in the better times but it was time to go.
Karen has no criminal record. She is a grandmother who spent eight years working as an admin assistant at a primary school before her retirement. βI donβt even have parking tickets in the background anywhere,β she says. βI am not a dangerous criminal. I didnβt enter the country illegally and I had everything I needed to be there.β So why did ICE detain her, and keep her locked up for so long? A possible answer began to emerge over the weeks she was incarcerated. As Karen got to know the guards at the Northwest ICE Processing Center where she was held, she kept hearing the same thing from them: that ICE officers are paid a bonus every time they detain someone. βIndividual ICE agents get money per head that they detain β the guards told me that,β Karen says.
Border Patrol is operating as bounty hunters.
Agents are apparently getting paid for each person they put in detention. Even if those people are grandmothers traveling on valid tourist visas.

The conclusions about student cognition arenβt the interesting part for me so much as the money being spent on youth surveillance that isnβt leading to better learning outcomes. Teachers are being laid off, schools & libraries are closing, books are being banned.
Yessss!!!
i've decided not to listen to the audio of a teacher reporting a kindergartender because frankly I don't want to become the person that that event would turn me into. but one thing I hope we are collectively coming to grips with is what it meant that we have lived among such people this whole time
A lot of people, including me, were wondering how an IRB could ever approve this study.
The answer is that no IRB did. The person who βsigned offβ on approval from the only ethics board that reviewed it had resigned three years earlier. His signature was used without his knowledge.
An ICE agent shot and killed Ruben Ray Martinez, a US citizen and San Antonio resident, in March 2025. Then ICE and the Texas Department of Public Safety covered it up. He was 23 years old. I am calling for a full investigation into this shooting, including why there was an 8-month cover up.
This entire decision is worth a read.
NYU Langone is refusing to provide gender-affirming care. This is unacceptable.
If hospitals follow Trumpβs orders to erase the trans community, they should not receive a single dollar in city grants or contracts.
New York must stand with trans New Yorkers. Period.
I just canβt stop thinking abt federal agents raiding the cells of incarcerated children to confiscate their drawings & letters. This is Nazi shit.
Adults at ICE concentration camps also get punished for talking with people on the outside who can publicize their stories.
Based on what I've heard at the Otay Mesa camp in San Diego, they're punished with additional work duties, aren't allowed outside in the yard, and denied phone access.
FLASHBACK β 1988: @schumer.senate.gov brags about blocking the "Jackson plankβ, a DNC platform item by Jesse Jackson's presidential campaign which wouldβve supported Palestinian self-determination.
(From @fiftyshadesofwhey.bsky.social )
The 2-month-old baby in ICE detention was so sick he was hospitalized and unresponsive last night. Despite that, today, he and his entire family were deported. Now we donβt know where they are or if the baby is receiving healthcare.

Stop asking questions about GIRLS (aka CHILDREN) as if they are ADULTS.
Screenshot of a CNN segment shared by Acyn. A split-screen shows commentator Lydia Moynihan on the left and Kevin OβLeary on the right during a heated exchange. The chyron reads, βObama: Dems need to avoid scolding and βvirtue-signaling.ββ The post quotes OβLeary referencing China and concentration camps, and McGowan responding about West Virginia.
I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.
