Lookin so damn fine!
Iβm still not home yet but CANNOT WAIT for my copy!
Thanks so much Stu! (Isnβt it your day today??)
Night is the vault of moths, moons and meteors, and Iβve been spending a lot of time there recently putting together a new book with @batsfordbooks.bsky.social
exploring how shooting stars have shaped our understanding of the universe and our place in it!

Before the year is out two non-fic books I loved this year but havenβt posted about. One a dive into another world entirely, the other an entirely original, whip-smart road trip across Americaβ¦
For the greatest book ever published about pubsβbrought to you by The Fenceβ
I wrote about (arguably) the greatest pub - the Duke of York in Devon has seen some heavyweights through its doors. The Pub has some fun and fascinating piecesβ¦

A couple of pages from my travelogue from my time in Cuba back in 2022 and everything I saw, heard and learned for Lunate journal, which has now closed shop. But if youβd like a copy, let me know.
If youβre anything like us and Radio 4 is the background soundtrack to your existence, listen in at 3.45 today. I wrote a short story for Short Works about a wild boar release, rural ideologies and searching for balance in an environment that is intrinsically off-kilter

Best time to read about England is when youβre not there
I was delighted to write about the circuit I walk every night and what it means to me for @boundlessmagazine.bsky.social

If anything were to make me believe in a god, it would be watching a heron fly over.
I didnβt see them but I heard them. The swallows are back.
I finally sorted out my ALCS profile last year andβ¦if you havenβtβ¦do. You might get a very nice little surprise in your bank!

Thank you so.
Ha! Personally, my aim is limited to writing as everything else went to shit a long time ago..
I reference this quote often. Always worth repeating, like a mantra
At this point Iβm wondering if anyone whoβs ever had a book published has not found theirs on the LibGen search?
Trying here now: Iβm going back to Rome, this time with my husband. Last time, I remember wandering into a church, (sand/lime) stone, pretty spartan, no murals or frescos, with a domed ceiling with a hole to the sky. It wasnβt the Pantheon, does anyone know what it is?
Blue morning. Working on the bedroom windowsill today, accompanied by the quarrel of sparrows in the eves. Dawn gun shots from one of the farms in the distance. Skylarks singing in the cow field.
Listened to this Short Works while driving yesterday and it was such a fantastic piece of writing (brilliantly delivered by Carl Prekopp) I couldnβt wait to find out whoβs written it. Only to discover itβs my mate @tomvowler.bsky.social! Itβs so worth a listen:

Wow. Beauty. That is some top moor action.
Sounds like a phenomenal plan.
A good 200 or so ravens kawing over the field a tractorβs running through, then kawing back to their roost in the graveyard. The first Dutch-spotted lambs in the fields . Snowdrops, crocuses and the accidental daff. A tuft of fox fur on the verge. Itβs grey out, but I like it.
Can anyone recommend good essay comps to keep eyes peeled for (other than Fitzcorraldoβnot eligible)? Have some not-pitchable bits Iβd like a reason to turn into thingsβ¦
