Thanks, Boheme. I ended up rolling over a few of them into IRAs. At 50 we gave half our money to an advisor. Then 40% to another @ 62. Both well worth <1% fee. Retired @ 63. Blows my mind. Never considered tapping into 401k. I attribute it to living really frugally along with hard work & luck. 👌

It's a good question, Fyzzle. 401k is employer based w/contributions by you & employer. An IRA is all on you to fund. Both offer pre & post-tax options. That is diffence in simple terms. Ideally you only put in - never take out until retirement. The trend early removal is a really bad sign.

When did this happen? A decade ago, I remember when they confronted him about money raised from some counter event he held. He promised it would all go to veterans charities. 3 months later no money was donated anywhere. Press went after him. He was pissed. This should still happen every time!
