there's probably some evolutionary reason for people consistently facing more social sanction for making optimistic predictions that don't pan out then pessimistic ones. it's a really consistent bias. everyone regards it as way more embarrassing to be naive.

Trump’s presence in the Epstein files highlights a big partisan imbalance in the US media. There are way more liberal journalists/influencers who are like “these are just allegations, don’t overhype” than there are conservatives who would do the same if roles were reversed.
