I'm feeling the exact same way. Even with a personal safety-minded background in martial arts, I've bought more 'less lethal 'self defense devices in the past year than ever before, but I'm thinking that still might not be enough. We the people are the only thing that is going to stop this fuckery.

It's actually about 10 volumes (I've only got the first omnibus of vol 1-3 so far), and every 3 books are written by a different author, but Carpenter is always also credited. He wrote the last 3 volumes himself, iirc, and that story arc is called Old Man Jack.

And yes, it's a fun read so far!

Throwing around that word verifiably like anything has been proven one way or another. It hasn't, and like I said, there's a lot more presented than just the facilitated communication aspect, but if you choose to ignore it, you do you. Not here to convince anyone.

This is a very reductionist take on it, and can't even be applied to much of the evidence presented. They also address this in the series.

One of the first things the documentarian does is start by addressing this concern. The (multiple) parents were *really* hesitant to come forward at all, fearing what people would think. It's handled very well and compassionately, imo, and it's very much worth hearing out.

This situation sucks and I'm sorry you all are going through it. Sending vibes for the best outcome. I lost one of my cat-sons to cancer a few months ago, and his bro has been beside himself with grief, to the point it started to affect his health. Love and more love has gotten him (us) though it.

Emma, have you listened to the Telepathy Tapes podcast? It's basically a ongoing docu series into kids with severe autism who apparently communicate with each other, but it evolves into so much more. It's paradigm shifting in the understanding of what autism is. Seriously fascinating stuff.
