screenshot of a dictionary definition of kakistocracy:
government by the least suitable or competent citizens of a state.
"the danger is that this will reduce us to kakistocracy"
β’ a state or society governed by its least suitable or competent citizens.
plural noun: kakistocracies
"the modern regime is at once a plutocracy and a kakistocracy"
this word takes up so much space in my head that i'd rather be using for other things

This painting of a place in the woods is so realistic in detail, the bark on each of the several tree trunks so finely done, you really might think it is a photograph on first glance. It is only if one looks closer, between the trees & even in the green grasses and plants on the ground, that you might see the soft, blurred traces of Impressionism. Renoir has also captured sunlight streaming into this woodland so beautifully, dappling trees and grass in light and shadow. It seems such a simple painting yet itβs anything but. We cannot fathom how he was able to paint something so perfectly true to Nature, yet give it that softness of Impressionism at the same time. Renoir is so much more well known for his portraits of French life, intriguing glimpses of people in the every day, at theatres or country dancesβ¦as well as countless nude βbathers.β So this beautiful woodland scene came as a surprise to us. So simple a sceneβ¦and yet so full of the complex details of every tree, leaf and stem of grass, in and out of the streaming sunlight. Absolutely gorgeousβ¦At least, we find it so. ~π

Gone for a bit of an arty one today. Two waders which I think are probably redshanks; bills a bit short for godwits.
