At @northcowichan.bsky.social on council we have asked staff to engage with local service providers and government agencies on how we can help get ready for the next provincial funding opportunities for our community

Content from @natehagens.bsky.social is pretty good stuff. Also a recent episode on @profgalloway.com podcast with @peterzeihan.bsky.social is good.

Makes me think of this masterpiece by Matt Denison that he created for his channel IFHT (his new channel is Mahalo My Dude for those who like MTB etc). Hard to believe he made this in 2015

Save every memo, photo and video of the US administration and the records of what they are doing. (dont forget Israeli leaders). Crimes were prosecuted with over 50 years passing since WW2 and this should be the same.

Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:

Denial of quarterβ€”even the declaration of no quarterβ€”is a war crime.

And recognized as such by the US Government.

From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.

White nationalists are using discontent from the affordability crisis to bring violent, hateful ideology into our communities.

We’re in debt to Rachel Gilmore for her brave journalism on this threat.

Workers, communities & politicians must come together and stand up to the rising tide of fascism

The difference of being inside a national park vs not. A lot of differences and my best understanding is growth is controlled in the park with respect to the environmental footprint and impact.

People oppose new housing because it β€œwon’t be affordable enough” and it will β€œjust house high-earners”.

Then they get surprised when long-time tenants in older housing get renovicted for high-earners to move in.

What did you expect?! High-earners would disappear?

We must step up to the plate and provide at the bare minium sheltering spaces. The homeless are our residents and community members just like everyone else. I hope the CRD members follow through.

After spending the day yesterday in a workshop to better support immigration newcomers to the #CowichanValley , knowing this happens is maddening. #Whitenationalism must be called out & brought into thew sunlight. There must be #nospaceforhate and #racism ✊

North Cowichan to sell a 3.4-acre property to Cowichan Green Community for $10 - Cowichan Valley Citizen But deal comes with strict conditions

All great ideas and why our @northcowichan.bsky.social council recently supported selling our land to Cowichan Green Community for their food hub project. Food security is a fundamental cornerstone of a functional community.

People are struggling. I run one of Vancouver’s oldest community food programs and see the lineups growing.

Food access is a real issue and motions like this reflect ideas many of us in community have been advocating for. I'll keep supporting solutions like this that come from community.

And so I did. I asked how long this policy has been in place and whether it applies across government. Here’s what they said.

Diesel has hit over $2.00/l here in the #CowichanValley & the foresight of council to reduce the municipalities emissions is paying off big time right now. #Geopolitics has massive effects on #fossilfuel pricing & electrification of our #NorthCowichan assets helps reduce that volatility. #localgovt

This is just what I needed to see today.

E-bikes take cars off the road and that's really important. They also give people freedom, independence, and access to the world without a car.

But they're also fun as hell. And bikes *should* be fun!
