ashley ottesen is the best short-form comedy creator right now imo. she's got a few good schticks, including a very distinctive "dad joke with smile, over chiptune" series that i really can't get enough of. and her angel characters are fun too.
no punch line here. i just think she's really cool.
that's a hell of a credit to have on your resume.
@naomikritzer.bsky.social There's a pretty great Tumblr post about this: nitewrighter Mar 26 me: I don't get it. I thought I was doing a lot better than I was a few years ago. I'm like 10 times more on top of things than I used to be. How does everything feel terrible now? The Tiny Me in OSHA-approved Hi-Vis Gear Who lives in my brain and pulls all the levers: Boss, it's the fascism. You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances. Me: BUT I HAVE A BULLET JOURNAL AND I MEDIATE NOW. Tiny OSHA Me: BOSS, THE FASCISM.
Posting the sign so I can tap it when necessary.
When we talk about Baby Boomers not getting off the stage: In 1997, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2007, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2017, the US president was born in 1946.
And next year in 2027? The US president will have been born in 1946.
you already had my attention but now you have my curiosity.
move slow and repair things
sadly you're not casting the meandering towershell when it gets back so this guy isn't going to do a lot of work. :(
as long as we don't get satisfied with having cut just one head off the hydra, i think that's fine.
yeah, second post. i came around.
yeah on second thought: good things are worth celebrating. even if they're not going to materially change the state of the world, an awful person was handed meaningful consequences for her evil deeds. and we do want and need more of that.
obviously some of these can be in multiple categories. most are.
Nine game icons: horizon zero dawn, final fantasy 6, world of Warcraft, magic the gathering, super Mario world, nethack, sid Meier's alpha centauri, subnautica, and stardew valley
my 9 games.
each of these either launched my love for a genre (stardew valley, subnautica), were the most enthralling and have never left my head (ff6, horizon), are profoundly relevant to my career (magic, wow), or practically defined part of my youth (nethack, super mario world, smac).
idk why people are celebrating noem leaving. like, sure she's awful and deserves to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity but we're dealing with an administration with a *very* deep bench full of monsters.
they could replace literally everyone one by one and things would still be awful.
especially if they're in a bsky post that just started to get a lot of traction so you can't just delete and repost.
though i was a copyeditor for a long time so i'm no slouch on a regular screen either.
i'll check that app out, ty!
yes, i strongly agree with the principle of "if it works (reliably) it's not stupid".
that's confirmation enough that it *can* work. :)
oh yes. i have a playlist that's just music from horizon zero dawn and horizon forbidden west. including some hours-long tracks that are just ambient music, not the attention-demanding pieces.
i have a bedroom that's just my office. so i totally get needing that dedicated space.
but i am barely a writer these days.
i would very much like to get at least one of these stories out of my head and in front of other people to endure/enjoy, but idk about finding a space before i even start.
i mean this is obviously true but a tool that works for nonzero other humans is more likely to work for me as well.
open question to writers of any kind: i want to write a story but have a hard time sitting at my computer without either a game or game editor going.
is it feasible to write long-form fiction on one's phone? because i'm on my phone all the time. i'm typing on my phone right now. and out come words!
We said No War and the US government said "best we can do is every war all at the very same time oops we're almost out of bombs but that's probably fine when doing every war, all at the very same time idk we're drunk"
rule 36.24.36 says it counts!
walz should never have stopped calling them weird. because they're all weird losers.
i mean if you really want to objectify a woman who will never sleep with you, a "woman" who is in fact a data construct and has no body for anyone to sleep with is i guess fair game.
i just think it's complete loser behavior to get invested at all in this character because of her non-existent body.
too soon, rabbi.
some people really, really want to be fooled.
liking for support, not for the message.
i would expect that kind of talk at the start of a military video game in a voiceover from a higher ranked character as a telegraph that he's going to turn out to be the bad guy before the end of the game's campaign. or at least working with the bad guy.
