I don’t want to upstage @flavorflav.bsky.social or anything but if the US women’s hockey team comes to Japan, I’ll also throw them a nice party.

Hockey players are the best at throwing their gear in celebration compared to any other sport!

Credit card payments outpace cash among Japan households for 1st time Shift driven by e-commerce, reward points still lags behind South Korea, China

Have you encountered shops that only accept cash while traveling in Japan? Last year marked the first time that the country's households used credit cards more than cash.

Would be nice if people stopped restating the false claim that Waymos have live humans driving them. That was based on a misleading Futurism headline that was debunked in its own article. There is way too much hype about AI tech but it does no good to misrepresent the state of things the other way.

Minecraft, in two player mode, on a Switch has text that looks like 3 pixels tall. Even kids struggle to read it.

I’ve noticed your habit of simply asking β€œtell me more” on twitter and bsky too. I wish I thought to do it more often. I think it’s your superpower.

A while ago I bought an audiobook version of John Hodgman’s The Areas of my Expertise which is formatted a bit like an almanac and much of it is true but some parts are completely made up. It was very funny.

I loved the humor but also worried if I was not maybe polluting my brain with false facts.

I’m think of tuna fish as the canned product. If I got a cut of cooked tuna at a restaurant I would say β€œI’d like the tuna” but maybe that’s my exposure to Japan influencing me… but tuna does feel like it needs a following word a bit. Tuna fish, tuna steak, tuna melt. It’s an adjective.

What about t shirts you love so much you’re reluctant to wear them because they will fall into the β€œtoo many holes” category?

In Zelda 2, a woman appears in each town, beckoning Link into her home. They disappear inside and Link's health begins to refill.

One reddit user recently asked if this scene was *intentionally* suggestive. While that seems very unlikely, I thought I'd look into it.
