I wonder, sometimes: will MAGA ever be like "I've never played sports with a trans person but I can't afford groceries and that seems more important" or will they simply starve to death with "what is a woman?" as their last words

I don’t think what he said is that tours are stylistically unified.

Yeah that’s not how they talked about it publicly in realtime, but you can kind of infer it from the story Trey told about how emotional the band was post-10/7, crying together in a small room for hours.

In 2021 they did come back with new lights and the emphasis on spacy synth sounds and such. For a while it felt like perhaps a style shift (imo)

I’d sign that.

In β€˜21 it may have felt like an epochal shift to see shows again, but if you want to talk about 21-today specifically, β€œpost-pandemic” is right there.

Ultimately it’s a gut thing. The Hiatus was a soft breakup; after the fact they described it as a breakup with the option to return. The Breakup was a breakup. Between those changes their management and whole operation changed. 4.0 was merely a pause in shows for < 12 months.

Of the four groups, I think 2.0 is really the only one that maps onto a specific aesthetic. Maybe 4.0 too, which isn’t great because it suggests stagnation.

You two are starting to talk about creative eras. 1.0/2.0/3.0/4.0 are historical demarcations.

The previous breaks were much more of a break than the pandemic pause β€” Phish Inc even changed those other times!

But there’s no rulebook to consult to determine what makes a Phish era

So be practical. What do we gain from saying β€œ3.0 + 4.0” vs. β€œ3.0” in any discussion comparing eras?

06.03.2026 21:40 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t support it at all, but if you wanna talk about Phish in historical terms, if you say 3.0 most people won’t assume you mean 3.0 + β€œ4.0”. I said from the start that it would introduce confusion without any benefit. That’s where we are.

phish 3.0 is now 17 years old, the same age as 1.0

I finally came around to using 4.0 but it’s decidedly unhelpful taxonomy, as shown here: Dan’s (correct) point is that there have been as many years of post-Breakup shows as pre-Breakup shows, and yet he’s catching strays from you, wanting to argue about categories.

I continue to be gobsmacked at 1) how common this formulation is 2) how antisemitic and generally bigoted it is 3) and how for all the talk of anti-semitism this is never cited as an example even though it’s quite literally the original incarnation.

This from the Times is absolutely unhinged.

What gets me the most is how casually they call this remark by Crockett a β€œlie.” Hard to believe the Times is this craven, this dishonest, this absolutely obsessed with obscuring reality in the name of false β€œbalance.”

Read the new pages of Epstein files related to allegations that Trump sexually abused a minor that were previously withheld:

The new files do not shed any more light onto how credible federal investigators viewed her claims or how they were resolved.

It would be cool if political journalists would take note of Republicans currently insisting we’re not at war, and factor that into their credibility when they speak about other things.

I know that’s verboten of course; it’s savvy to live in a perpetual present tense w/no memory or context.
