3/ These efforts reflect our commitment to shared economic growth and prosperity, as well as our approach of meeting today’s challenges while keeping a long-term view of how policy change happens.
2/ In 2026, we’re focusing on three urgent priorities:
🟢Expanding our work on addressing authoritarian populism through economic policy
🟢Responding to the affordability crisis and promoting inclusive growth
🟢Exploring the implications of AI for workers and the U.S. economy
1/ At a time when economic policy is failing too many Americans, @equitablegrowth.bsky.social is bringing clarity, data, a commitment to equity, and a focus on growth to the national conversation, ensuring that solutions are grounded in what actually improves people’s lives.

1/ In last night’s #SOTU address, President Trump said he inherited a stagnant economy with record inflation that he has turned around in the last year. In fact, the evidence tells a different story. www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...

"One really striking feature of the U.S. economy in 2025 is the degree to which U.S. consumers soured on it."
Ahead of #SOTU, @michaelslinden.bsky.social takes stock of the U.S. economy over the past year, looking at various metrics of economic well-being.

1/ Happy #JobsReport day!
U.S. jobs data released this morning showed signs of a rebounding labor market in January, with unemployment ticking down and a total 130k jobs added in January, driven mostly by hiring in the service sector.

3/ While it's good Jobs Day numbers will come out next week, this critical data must be timely, so stakeholders can use accurate insights to make informed decisions. Timely data strengthens our economy and ensures workers benefit from economic growth. You can't fix what you don't measure.
2/ As @equitablegrowth.bsky.social's Chris Bangert-Drowns and @michaelslinden.bsky.social wrote in October amid the previous shutdown, without the data to measure how the job market is doing, business owners, consumers, and investors are flying blind.
1/ This morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics should have released the January employment situation report, which would have told us how many jobs were created last month. Because of this week’s partial government shutdown, that report has been postponed.

1/ A new executive order aims to block states from governing AI. Without a thoughtful federal framework in place, banning local guardrails leaves workers and markets exposed. Our research shows ungoverned AI carries serious social and economic risks. equitablegrowth.org/issue/ai-tec...

"Even if a future presidential administration unwinds the current tariff regime, the shadow of this era will persist as an enduring sense that markets move at the mercy of politics." NEW from @nirupama.bsky.social on changing tariff policies and economic growth:
Many thanks to @ksabeelrahman.bsky.social for sitting down with me for this thoughtful conversation. I look forward to his discussion on how we reimagine govt. institutions to address economic inequality and drive shared prosperity at our next “EG Presents” event on Dec. 9. More details to come!
Artificial intelligence is impacting the U.S. economy in different ways.
