Some of the responses to this are quite odd. Yes, the word choice isn’t great but it comes from an interview where she talks about politicians don’t always manage to use the right words. Yes, the Labour Party is The Problem, but Thornberry says that! Thornberry has been a fairly consistent ally

However, several Labour MPs said they had been lobbied by constituents and that backing Phillipson at the same time as the guidance was released would make them "extremely unpopular" in their seats.
One MP said: "I back Bridget, but if this guidance is published before the vote closes there's no way I can vote for her. I've got a big LGBT community in my constituency and I'd never get their vote again."

This was already being briefed out by Labour MPs re EHRC guidance in October. I’m sure this MP is not feeling any more relaxed now. We need to keep this pressure up.

The fact, is heaps of Labour MPs come back to Parliament with their local councils a sea of Green, it’s only going to help us.

I can't take credit for these words, by the way. They were first uttered by the sitting Home Secretary.

The right of the party decide that, after 2019, if party supporters are opposed to it, it must be popular and failed to consider they need their base to get votes

I’d agree with this analysis, can’t imagine some of the larger towns in the constituency voting reform, Aberdeen South in Holyrood is more reform leaning than Westminster though so I think the SNP can probably be pretty safe in both

See id typed out it was a covid thing then deleted that because I thought surely not, I think that might have maybe been something to do with the count

Last time there was a by election like this (Airdrie and Shotts, 2021) it was a week after Holyrood so will probably be around Holyrood this time I imagine

It’s SNP party rules, they’ll have to step down before the Holyrood elections I believe

The main reason UK energy prices are so high is not net zero but the fact the price of gas still sets the price of electricity. Breaking that link should be the priority.
