Another of the bull trout from my recent trip to B.C... We spent day 1 with a guide. I don't often fish with guides but I learn so much when I do. It's expensive, but if you can do it occasionally, especially when you're fishing an area or species that's new to you, it's a huge help.

I had a guide for the first day and caught a couple bull trout on the Wigwam, but a friend and I spotted this one among a few others near the bank on the Elk. Yeah, those cutthroat trout are amazing. The first fish that day was a hefty 18 incher that took a stonefly nymph.

Just got back from B.C.. The main goal was to catch bull trout for pictures for Fly Fishing Simulator HD. This Elk River 27 incher ate a streamer I tied in a hotel on the way. It bolted 150 yards downriver but I was able to stop it before the rapids. A fish I'll never forget... #flyfishing

Dipping the phone for a peek. The larger fish there was at least 30. It watched flies go by many times. She didn't want to feed but it was so cool to see her lurking there.

Thanks. One of 3 we caught today. My friend got one just a bit bigger. This one was 25 inches, and we saw some at least 30 inches today. I caught bull trout in the Oregon wilderness as a teenager but they were all under 12 inches. This was a very different experience.
