To celebrate the occasion, I put in an order today for supplies so that I can make a new batch of my #Voyager pendants πŸ€©πŸ›°οΈ

Jupiter and Callisto from Voyager 1. This color composite of Jupiter was the last image captured by Voyager 1 before its wide-angle camera could no longer fit the whole of the planet within its 3.2 degree field of view.

On this day in space, March 5th, 1979, #Voyager 1 did its closest flyby of #Jupiter.

I can't believe that 48.5 years after launch, Voyager 1 is still going and the farthest human-made object from Earth 🀯

I am using traditional descriptive geometry and watercolor pencils to turn functions used in physics into cathedrals from stained glass.

Two images of a planetary nebula in space. The image to the left, labelled β€œEuclid & Hubble”, shows the whole nebula and its surroundings. A star in the very centre is surrounded by white bubbles and loops of gas, all shining with a powerful blue light. Farther away a broken ring of red and blue gas clouds surrounds the nebula. The background shows many stars and distant galaxies. A white box indicates the centre of the nebula and this region is the image to the right, labelled β€œHubble”. It shows the multi-layered bubbles, pointed jets and circular shells of gas that make up the nebula, as well as the central star, in greater detail.

Wowowow - our @science.esa.int Hubble's picture of the month for March is the Cat's Eye Nebula, from combined images of #Hubble and #Euclid. Euclid's wide field and low surface brightness sensitivity brings out an external shell. Incredible image. esahubble.org/images/potm2... πŸ”

I look at images of the universe, inspired by the dazzling light that paints our incomprehensibly vast sky & listen to a story of someone who used to work with their kitten right beside them and my job is to put those two things together. I'm just incredibly humbled I get to capture life this way.

In the top left, a yellow arrow marked β€˜Sun’ points straight down, and a blue arrow marked β€˜Velocity’ points towards the 7 o’clock direction. A nebula appears like a transparent bubble with a white edge, inside which are two hemispheres of orange clouds being blown out from the center, split by a dark vertical lane, giving the overall appearance of a see-through skull with a brain inside, as seen from above. A few stars appear with eight points, and small background galaxies can be seen around and through the outer bubble.

Astronomers are losing their minds over #NASAWebb’s latest images of the very brainy-looking nebula PMR 1. Its distinctive form is the result of a dying star expelling its outer layers: https://news.stsci.edu/4tVQccE πŸ” πŸ§ͺ
