Spain has denied the use of its military bases to U.S. forces involved in the joint U.S.-Israel war on Iran, including for refueling, objecting to unprovoked attacks that Spanish officials say are a violation of international law. bit.ly/4u3zJ62

Netanyahu says Trump fulfilled his dreams: In bombing Iran, Israel now has the "assistance of the United States, my friend, US President Donald Trump, and the US military. This coalition of forces allows us to do what I have yearned to do for 40 years"

For anyone who doubts these processes -- or humanity's power to alter our planet -- consider this dispatch from the poles: Human-caused warming has already melted so much ice in Greenland and Antarctica that Earth's rotation has slowed and its axis has shifted, slightly altering the length of the day and disrupting the precision of satellite tracking, global positioning systems and timekeeping.

The democrats no less than the republicans have blood on their hands. They are part of the same imperial project, and the dems have reiterated repeatedly that their only quibble with Trump's warmaking is procedural.

Schumer especially has Iranian children's blood on his hands, that fucking demon.

Story illustrated by AI slop, of course. A bit of an aside, but the increasing dearth of captioning accompanying the rise of synthetic imagery use in journalism (πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«) is egregious, and also contributes to mis/disinformation. Under this photo reads: Image: Burger King.

Translation: Study from the Public Health Institute of Quebec reports that 34% of children aged 2 1/2 already have chronic health conditions. Not a single mention of Covid. Reminder: Quebec BANNED the use of air purifiers in schools and daycares during the pandemic and overall played down the risks.

Opinion: By threatening to get rid of prison librarians, Canada is not going by the book Eliminating educational programs and the jobs of federal prison librarians hollows out potential rehabilitation services – not to mention Canada’s humanity

Another casualty of Mark Carney’s ideologically driven government spending cuts: prison libraries.

After considerable soul-searching, I feel compelled to withdraw from the BAFTA emerging talent judging panel. The organisation's handling of the unfortunate Tourette's N-Word incident last night at the awards was utterly unforgivable. I cannot and will not contribute my time energy and expertise to an organisation that has repeatedly failed to safeguard the dignity of its Black guests, members and the Black creative community. This is particularly unfortunate given that this year's cohort boasts some incredible Black talent, especially one of my favourite shows of 2025 "Just Act Normal". However, when an organisation like BAFTA, with its own long history of systemic racism, refuses to acknowledge the harm inflicted on both the Black and disabled communities and offer an appropriate apology, remaining involved would be tantamount to condoning its behaviour. I hope BAFTA leadership comprehend the damage they and the BBC have caused and take the necessary steps to ensure their production staff are inclusive enough to prevent such an issue in the future.
Yours sincerely, Jonte Richardson
