I put up the code on github.com/sfmlab/mole2d for anyone wanting to test it. It's full f bugs, but works if you just need to draw a molecule here and there. :) And I'm working on making it much better (and part of a bigger suite)
BIG UPDATES!
OCTRON now supports the new SAM3 models (alongside SAM2)!
Weβve also added a global switch for Detection vs. Segmentation: Use the same annotations to train either lightweight detection or full segmentation models. Plus, weβve added support for the new YOLO26 models. ‡οΈ

Graphical abstract that depicts the flow of experiments, showing the relation between different steps/protocols
We've redesigned a practical course on cell biology. This will run for the 1st time with 100+ students, starting next week. I've made a graphical abstract to help students (and myself) understand where we are in the process....

We have integrated the Allen Institute's BioFile Finder app with IDR. You can quickly Group and Filter all images in a study. Data is served by the IDR search engine and supports up to a million images at a time. BioFile Finder links are on each study page e.g. idr.openmicroscopy.org/study/idr0056/
This is a promotional image for #RSCPoster 2026. It features the text: "Last chance to register. #RSCPoster 2026 is next week (3-4 March). Don't forget to register to be eligible to win a prize! Register by 11:59pm (UK time) on 2 March 2026." The Royal Society of Chemistry and American Elements logos are present. The background is a digital network design.

Indeed, indeed.
I'm sure there are plenty of papers around that were wrongly using cameras to monitor chemical reactions. Especially with the rise of the SDL, this is an extremely important topic....
Just because you see a color, it doesn't mean that your camera can quantify it....
Rewrote my Python bioformats wrapper (from aicsimageio/bioio) as a standalone package:
- fully bootstrapped Java setup (just pip install)
- lazy, repeatably-indexable Array object
- fully spec-compliant OME-Zarr group obj.
- xarray/dask exports
