We are helping Russia; Iran is helping Russia; Russia is helping Iran kill Americans. Classic four-dimensional chess from our Commander-in-Chief.

There is a legal provision in immigration law that someone married to a US citizen can stay in the US while there visa is pending. Immigration officials have long recognized it to allow residency during the wait time. The DHS has just stopped following this part of the law.
And just when selling a huge glut of oil at hugely inflated rates will refill Russia's war chest- so helpful!
Let me be clear: Iβm glad Kristi Noem was fired. But we still have to abolish ICE.

The first I bought used from a neighbor kid. The second I bought new maybe a year later. In the latter case it was clear that my mother really just was not paying attention to what the hell is was doing b/c I was like 8y.o at the time.

For nearly a year, DHS tried to keep secret that it had killed a U.S. citizen.
Then came a FOIA request from @weareoversight.bsky.social.
ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. Sheβs married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
Theyβve already sent her to Louisiana.
If you're at the airport and Kristi Noem is doing the ominous little message from the TSA screens, you no longer have to do anything she says. Leave your laptop in the case, whatever.
PEPFAR, the program to stop hundreds of thousands of children and adults from dying of HIV/AIDS, was $6.5 billion a year.

Itβs a war without a political objective.
Plenty of wars have opened without a clear plan to reconcile desired ends with available means, we may be the first country to go to war without even a basic concept of victory.

Hell, it's even intersectional. Black fiction, especially female fiction, has lots of male characters who spend all day taking shit from white men, but at least they can take it out on their wives and kids when they get home.
And yeah, I'm not saying anything ground-breaking or new here. Fight Club (whatever you think of it otherwise) was grounded in this stuff back in the mid-90s. It's the central thesis of Susan Faludis work from the same time period, Backlash and Stiffed.
It's not a stretch to simply reframe this LBJ quote in terms of gender: "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket."
Then take away some of the structures reinforcing that, and how some men react is not surprising.
I'm not particularly adept at material analysis, but higher economic exploitation and insecurity of men by a system run by other men so often gets sublimated by pointing out that at least they used to have a nuclear family as their own personal fiefdom to dominate, and "feminism took it away"
For decades young men have grasped for ways to redefine adulthood/manhood in a shifting cultural/economic landscape, and that adriftness has taken them in lots of directions, some benign (beards!), some more toxic. Parenthood has long been a social signifier, but it gets extra stress here.
That is WILD. But I guess it makes sense that some older folks with older mortgages might have just been plugging along, not paying attention to rates and missed the chance to refinance when they were super low.
