Cool topic! Was there a slide on some tips to survive the modern world?
Vibe coding is the creation of large quantities of complex AI-generated code. Executives push lay-offs claiming AI can handle the work. Managers pressure employees to meet quotas of how much code must be AI-generated... yet results are far from what was promised 1/

PFAS are linked to cancer and contaminate our water and food - yet chemical giants are lobbying to weaken protections to our health. Europe can still act. I just signed. Will you? action.wemove.eu/sign/2026-01...
Insect acoustic communication, yay! #bioacoustics
Such cool results
Intriguing! Does anyone at #bioacoustics know other species with the same biais?
Could we get a video to listen to the frogs? I am curious to hear how "tiny" they sound.
Merci!

A fun way to explore microbial competition and cooperation!

Koen de Reus recorded 1,000+ hours of pup calls for his PhD at our Institute and Radboud University, with @pieterburen.bsky.social He discovered seal pups take turns when they ‘talk’ and even develop local accents. Surprisingly human!

An Atlantic Puffin stands on a narrow, rocky cliff ledge streaked with lichen and tufts of grass. Its black back and white chest contrast with the pale stone, and its bright orange bill catches the light. The blurred backdrop of steep coastal rock faces hints at a rugged seabird colony, one of the special coastal habitats that provide vital nesting sites for wildlife.
Which is why the habitats they fight to return to must be protected.
Weakening protections for key sites for nature would push our already struggling wildlife closer to collapse.
Yet the UK Government is considering doing just that.
Tell your MP to stop this: action.rspb.org.uk/page/186397/... ‼️
They produce this sound in the mound.
Not so interested in where they stridulate but more in what context. I did an experiment but I have hours of recordings to sift through... and a project to finish before I can dive into this question.
Stay tuned! 😉
Vidéo drôle et pédagogique. Quelles sources sont disponibles pour comprendre le fonctionnement de ces pesticides?

An infographic titled “Nest Boxes for Robins & Wrens” shows a wooden open-front nest box positioned in dense vegetation. An inset image of a Robin highlights one of the species that benefit. The text advises placing open-front boxes low to the ground (no higher than 2m) and in well-hidden, sheltered locations to provide protection from predators.
This #NationalNestboxWeek, remember not all birds nest the same way!
Here's a few options to get you started...
Robins and Wrens like to keep hidden, tucking their nests away in dense cover.
An open-fronted box placed low down and out of sight is just their style.

Thanks! It was really exciting to see in real time too
I do not know whether it was through the substrate or through the air. Both could be possible!
The Carpenter ants drum, while the sound I recorded from Red Wood ants is similar to stridulation, i.e. body parts being rubbed.
