Editor Kala Godin has had to step down from this year's contest due to personal reasons. We hope she'll be back for the next #revpit event.
Writers, please check our editors' MSWLs if you need to make a new choice. We ensure we have good coverage across genres so everyone has plenty of choices.

with an MS like that.
If you're still anxious about submitting to me, I highly encourage you to check out the other amazing editors participating in RevPit this year!
Hope this helps!

I'm cautious about working with historical fiction because I'm not confident in my fact-checking skills for historical accuracy, esp for a tight time frame like RevPit. You mentioned your MS has a fictional history and that you have resources like sensitivity readers, so I'm more open to working

Screenshot from animal crossing. Text reads: and done! I can buy these from you for a total of 1,365,000 bells. Sound good?
Good morning! Iβm caffeinating here for my #MeetTheEditor chat. All week, the #RevPit editors have been showing off their impressive skills and knowledge, and now itβs my turn.
I just sold my turnips for 455 bells, so that should impress at least 4-5 of you.
Whoβs hanging out with me today?

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I'm not much of a gamer, I went as far as Game Boy Advance SP π, but I'm happy to watch my siblings play. It's nice to meet you too!

Thanks for stopping by! That's interesting! For me, mainly confidence and competence draws me to an MC, no matter the story/situation. But the MC doesn't necessarily need to be those things to start with if the voice is engaging, and growing confident/competent is part of the arc. πͺ

Thanks for stopping by! I know my session time was kind of inconvenient, being late on a Friday, so I was happy to extend the window for people to drop questions in the thread.
Just the gratuitous kind. I don't mind body horror if it serves the story.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for stopping by! You're good, I know my session was on a Friday evening when people have plans, or are in different time zones, etc.
That premise sounds interesting! π

Thanks for stopping by! For RevPit submission, for me, ideally you're ready to submit your MS to agents, but you know it could benefit from another set of eyes to make sure it's as polished as possible. RevPit is too short a time for me to help with an MS that needs a deep dev edit. Hope this helps!

Thanks for stopping by! I can't say for certain without reading your MS, but I'm def open to stories with MCs who gradually become confident and grow into themselves as part of their arc.
Hope this helps!

I have had instances of online miscommunication during my day job. I may need to take a beat to clear my head and remind myself not to take things personally, but I'm always professional when I respond to reframe and provide further clarity.
Hope this helps!

In my experience, I've also been aligned with the authors I've worked with in the goal of helping them take their MS to the next level. I think sharing that vision and wanting that collaboration helps a lot and reduces the chances of miscommunication.

I haven't had miscommunication with any of my RevPit winners or editing clients to date. I always aim to be respectful and professional in my emails and comments, to frame my comments in ways to help the author, and to provide actionable suggestions on how the author can polish their MS.

Thanks for stopping by! For RevPit, I usually schedule a weekly check-in with my winner to give updates. I may send additional emails if any questions come up. I expect a response within 24 hours of sending an email during the work week, and I make sure to do the same if my winner emails me.

And that's a wrap on my #MeetTheEditor session! Thanks to everyone who stopped by! I know some #RevPit folks missed this session because of different time zones or Friday night plans, so if you leave a question in this thread in the next 24 hours, I'll respond some time this weekend!

I tend not to edit historical fiction because I'm not confident in my historical fact-checking skills, and I don't want to do a disservice to the MS or the author. I'm sure another RevPit editor will be a better fit!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for stopping by! Sadly, a nay for me π. I'm probably not the right editor for your MS. I'm not unfamiliar with the 1970s, so while I can handle rotary phones, I don't know a lot about that time period.

I'm not personally a fan of prologues, but only because in my editing experience they usually aren't done well i.e., they don't benefit the story by setting it up properly or pay off later. But it really depends on the story!

An example off the top of my head is Angela Liu's "Imagine: Purple-haired Girl Shooting Down the Moon"
I'll consider subs as long as they're not over 100K!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for stopping by! I lived in DC for a bit, and the cherry trees in bloom on the Mall were definitely the highlight.
Soft sci-fi for me is that the advanced tech etc exists in the story world, but the nitty-gritty of it isn't explored in-depth unless it's essential to the plot.

Thanks for stopping by! I prefer character-driven stories, but if the characters are compelling, the plot has a clear through-line, and I have ideas that could help develop the plot further, I'm open to plot-driven stories.

I enjoy angst in a developing relationship as long as the story has a happy ending!
Tropes I enjoy are friends-to-lovers and strangers-to-friends-to-lovers. And really, I'm open to anything excluding my hard passes if the character/voice draw me in!
Hope this helps!

Of course! And thanks for stopping by! Yes, I'm open to CR this year. Tbh, my romance genre consumption is mainly anime/manga. I really enjoy the tension and feels that come with a romantic development, whether it's sweet (7th Time Loop/A Sign of Affection) or intense (Yakuza Fiance).

Iβm primarily interested in fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, but what really draws me into a story is character and voice, so Iβm open to editing in any genre. My first RevPit I chose a fantasy sub as my winner, and last year was contemporary romance. Both times it was the MC that drew my attention!
