Box-cutter? Those things can get you pretty deep, even when they're just nicking you (personal experience).

My dog wears Oakleys and a backwards cap, and drinks Natty Light out of a bowl (not sure where he gets it; I'm genuinely concerned for his health).

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

Look at who's up for re-election when, and it gets pretty obvious that Mark Warner doesn't want voters mad at him next year, so Kaine is eating shit on his behalf.

"no way to tell" Don't need to be a genius to know that Mark Warner loves nothing more than cutting babies in half, and had Tim Kaine self-immolate on his behalf to avoid a primary.

He's taking the fall for Warner, b/c Warner wants more than anything else to cut the baby in half. It's what he does, but he knows he'll catch hell for it next year. Kaine's not up until 2030, when he might just retire anyways.

He's covering for Warner, who needs to catch a primary challenge, but won't, b/c VA is too beltway-brained to give up on their favorite fossil.

He's covering for Warner. There's no way in hell Warner isn't champing at the bit to compromise in exchange for absolutely nothing.

Another thing about the press in this era is they don't report anymore!! You don't have to present the two arguments here, you can actually just go verify!

There's literally no reason for Congress to exist if any random freak in the presidential orbit can nullify laws and seize federal funds. All of this is plainly illegal, but Mike Johnson leads the most corrupt Congress in US history (and by a wide margin.)

Lmao. Looking at voter stats in Louisiana, and imagining that racial polarization isn't a factor when white voters in every area of the state outside Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans basically vote well over 80-20 for Republicans.

"Why don't they just apply for citizenship?"

This is a question often directed toward undocumented immigrants living in the United States.

But the pathway to American citizenship for the vast majority is long, complex, and financially draining.

His triangulation kinda ended up feeding into the conservative red-scare hysteria, tho. Cost some good politicians their jobs (Glen Taylor was probably DOA regardless, but Smathers' primary against Claude Pepper was some really ugly stuff).

He only held up so well b/c he still had a floor in parts of the Midwest and the Northeast Corridor. West of the Mississippi River, he completely fell apart, for the most part. Hoover even managed to lose some staunchly R areas in the South, like German central TX and the Shenandoah Valley.

He didn't run a pro-Prohibition campaign that played into anti-Catholic hysteria after Al Smith got shellacked. He doubled down on anti-Prohibition, and used that strength w/ Catholics to flip states like Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, which were former GOP strongholds.
