The Catalan language has a past tense built with the verb ‘go’.
So instead of using simple past, in #Catalan you can say:
vaig menjar - ‘I go eat’
meaning: ‘I ate’
It’s called the periphrastic past, and it’s unusual among Romance languages because it uses ‘go’ rather than ‘have’.

The Irish language doesn't have words for 'yes' or 'no'.
Instead, the verb from the question is repeated with or without a negative particle.
For example:
Ar chuala tú é? ‘Did you hear it?’
Chuala. ‘(I) heard.’
Níor chuala. ‘(I) did not hear.’

Auditory Illusions in Speech Perception: Definition and Examples - About Linguistics
Auditory illusions in speech perception are perceptual errors where your brain hears something different from the sounds produced.
If you have ever misheard the lyrics of a song ("All the lonely Starbucks lovers" - Blank Space, Taylor Swift, anyone?), you have experienced an auditory illusion.

Japanese has special verbs just for giving and receiving things.
For example, あげる (ageru) means ‘to give,’ while もらう (morau) and polite いただく (itadaku) mean ‘to receive.’

How far back in time can you understand English?
An experiment in language change
If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.
It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.

A new study looks at how the brain organizes and interprets information about speech as it unfolds in real time, showing that our brains process both multiple words and multiple types of information (phonetic, syntactic, semantic, etc.) in parallel.

Speech is a physical event, and as such, it can be broken down into measurable parts like vibrations, airflow, and sound energy.

The word ‘disaster’ comes from Latin disastrum:
dis-: ‘bad’, ‘ill’, or ‘unfavourable’
astrum: ‘star’
Stars were associated with fate. When something bad happened, it was because the stars weren't 'aligned'.
That's also why we also have words like 'ill-starred'.
