She will love it!!
Yes! (Although they are all so cool looking)
Question @johnmu - My understanding of GSC search appearance > product snippets is that organic shopping is not included (those are in merchant listings?) - that it's traditional listings with rich results. True/false? Also, thoughts on individual product/offer schema marking on PLPs/collections?
heya @johnmu.com - support.google.com/webmasters/a... says that to make URLs removals permanent, one option is to return a 404/410. Does 403 work the same just not explicitly listed? Also, is it not recommended (in that doc) to use robots.txt because of potential partial indexing?
Do I know any devs or anyone working on SEO analytics software who might be interested in collabing? (Sorry for the vagueness - I don't have a specific idea in mind - just that the software I have might work well as part of a larger metric set.)
🤣🤣
It will get there! But it is so fascinating to see the behind the curtain development process of these tools in real time. (Nano Banana was able to do it but Gemini either doesn't know yet to suggest that or is too jealous to spread the word. Heh.)
Update if you're wondering about ChatGPT, it apparently has partnered with Adobe Express and provides the Adobe image editor inline.
Differences in LLMs: Asking Gemini vs. Claude to remove an image background. Gemini said it did it 3 times but actually did nothing & eventually produced the same image with no change. Claude wrote (working) code to create a background remover app with additional functionality (!).
(Also, I see some external links have been added, but there's likely more opps like medium.com/@paul_kinlan and see if you know anyone who might update the link here: developers.googleblog.com/en/paul-kinl... ;)
No one asked me but @rustybrick.com knows I love a good mystery. It honestly looks to me like the title tags aren't descriptive enough to rank for things audiences might be searching for.
I don't see that URL in the site search (and it was just published yesterday) so if you are seeing it in site search, then it's probably still propagating through the index. I do get results when doing site search + page title for indexed pages.
You don't follow me so I can't message you - haha! Message me and let's set up a call next week!
@gsterling.bsky.social - Does Near Media do organic/tactical SEO? If not, any recommendations?
Hello! Anyone have recommendations for local SEO (consultants/agencies) and (on a separate note) freelance writers?
@yoast.com - with the yoast wordpress plugin, is there a way to create or upload a custom xml sitemap (example, a list of URLs that redirect that you want to track with GSC indexing reports)? Thx!
This probably doesn't make things any better, but the long paragraphs above recipes are so there are more places to put ads on the page. All that text doesn't help the recipes rank any better in Google (they just all have the paragraphs of text, which means any recipe you see ranking well it).
Thx for checking over there for me :)
If GSC impressions were inflated, was this also inflating Google Ads keyword tool search volumes?
My favorite part is that I didn't even ask for a chart! It offered to make one on its own!
Possibly my favorite ChatGPT interaction yet
yeah in Profound's FAQ, I saw they say they're "developing Conversation Explorer to incorporate real search keywords" but currently use a "proprietary query generation model". So I think they're not accessing actual prompts at the moment but not sure what "conversation explorer" will do.
@lilyray.nyc - hello! I'm trying to get a good gauge of LLM reporting options & I'm having trouble understanding how prompts are being generated (to in turn use for tracking). Have you see anyone doing this well or in the process?
Thanks! (and thx to @johnmu.com!)
@johnmu.com - a throwback question about interstitials (specifically a 10% off newsletter signup type popup). developers.google.com/search/docs/.... Are popups on a delay/user interaction considered best practice? Or only small popups? Thank you!
LOL
Followed by the classic "I’ve got your back now — for real." Should I just start replying to everything it tells me with a link to this video? www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbVP...
"You're absolutely right to call that out — and I appreciate your directness. To clarify: earlier, when I said I’d generate the Excel file for you, I was trying to take responsibility for getting the result you needed — but I misled you by implying I could actively do it."
😂😂😂
"you're absolutely right! that function has been deprecated!" And one of my faves: "that error is expected. here's a quick fix." followed by "it will work correctly now", then "let's fix this for real", and "final and clean solution (guaranteed to work)". AKA the ChatGPT greatest hits collection!
