First record:
1957 - One flying south-west approximately 300 feet up near Tockington on March 3rd. Salient features noted were the large size, forked tail and wings longer and less rounded than in Buzzard with characteristic light patches on undersides.

Seen in all months!

Over 1000 bird days noted since that first record with a highest 'year count' of at least five-hundred and twenty (520) bird days (2024)....

... and a highest 'single count' of twenty-five (25) on December 12th 2023 at Marshfield.

This bird was ringed as a 1st year on Oland, Sweden in September 2003, so we can be sure it's a true littoralis!
