YMMV, but my best advice is to try and make him feel like you understand why he is stressed. Tell him about a time you were stressed by something that didn't matter. Agree that sometimes things can feel more monumental than they actually are. Can feel counterintuitive, but it works.

I don't think policy drives votes. Even pre-Trump, poli-sci found little connection. More true now. It's mostly vibes and authenticity ➡️ more policy freedom for candidates.
