Ref: Center for Independence of the Disabled, New York et al. v. City of New York (often shortened to “CIDNY v. NYC”), 2019.
Tech note: not sure exactly what the terminology for this construction material is, perhaps bitmac, which uses a bitumen binder (like asphalt), and not tarmacadam; application appears more similar to pothole patching than full street paving.
Delancey #bikeNYC puddles at crosswalk.
Curbside puddles are familiar to #gutterlane #bikelane riders.
New higher crosswalks also reduce #bikeNYC splashing.
Not alway pretty, but it works.

NYC has a huge $billion+ decade(s) to improve crosswalks for disabled and/or mobility impaired and @nyc-dot.bsky.social is supplementing curb cuts with ad hoc splashes of tarmac to bring the roadway up towards sidewalk pavement elevation (Pic 1).
Not alway pretty, but it works.

A good time to report: Former Carmel Mayor Clint Eastwood
Buffalo Stance bike fit
No money, man, could win my love
It's sweetness that I'm thinking of.
If populations grow beside metro lines, metro lines per capita may decrease.
New NYC street design foregoes parking-protected bikelane to provide parking-protected granite slabs. Woodeside Ave at Broadway, Elmhurst, Queens. #bikeNYC
New average speed limit for #bikeNYC Central Park Loop: 60 km/h
Have you ever gone through a turnstile inside a city bus when you pay your fare?
It's unthinkable in the US and most of Europe, but routine in middle-wealth countries like Colombia.
To keep the service running, every peso matters.
#AmazonGo, I miss you.
Fun fact: "If landlords reported to credit bureaus the rent their customers paid, those unbanked/underbanked customers could develop credit profiles and begin to qualify for mortgages."
vs
Underbanked folks live under marginal gray market informal landlords who won't be reporting.
Typically, published market rent surveys show apartments managed by mass-market corporate entities that participate in reporting consortia and advertize and otherwise participate in listing services.
Other surveys eg US Census American Community Survey directly poll consumers
Ruska 2025 - last episode. Huge thanks to everyone who followed along with the dots, on the roads and with the videos. It was a wonderful ride 🥰

Of course, somebody at CityHall can mess up the database of actual in-effect bus lans vs vs planned future bus lanes, and issue thousands of bonus tickets.

Photo enforcement circa 1980 lacked nuance.
Modern #video enforcement with computer-assisted image interpretation and classification (I'm agnostic AI or ML or other methods here) should be able to reliably distinguish between #stopping #standing #loading or #unloading vs #parking No confusion.
City with 100 % transportation:
Everybody is looping around endlessly, searching for the abundance of housing (or job sites or schools or parks or Lifestyle Power Centers):
No more Teflon Dawn misty morning rides in GorTex.
Queue @dieworkwear.bsky.social to praise worsted-smooth, gabardine-slick, tight-woven, mercerized, calendered—fabric behaving less like knitwear and more like precision material, engineered to move without ever looking disordered.
If you post #cycling content, I will find it and amplify it.
Perhaps you can walk up to your third-floor condo in a 70-story condo tower.
If more people like low-rise walk-up homes, developments could be comprised of a podium of terraced townhomes under a standard tower. #Burnaby style.
If you like the maps I've created, then I want to create your own maps, for free.
The full ambition (we're on it): Summarize anything (tax lots, filings, permits, sales, etc), based on any filter, by any geography.
The blog post shows how to do it.

Vehicular cyclist erasure.
Equilibrium.
For hardening existing #bikelanes with concrete curbs and sturdier reflective posts, e.g., in LIC, Queens, on Vernon, Crescent, and Northern Blvd, @nyc-dot.bsky.social of 2021-2025 deserves fair credit.
Maximizing conflicts with pedestrians is due to DOT, not #bikeNYC.
School steals bikelane without providing detour.
Bike lane narrowed and crosswalk visibility reduced due to #ambush by DOT gardners
Delightful and useful Third Avd Manhattan #bikeNYC wide bikelane design was simple, cheap, and fast to implement.
Streetscape public realm projects in Queens were claimed to benefit cyclists, but reality is worse.
DOT #BicycleBoulevards decimate cycling. Contorting bends, obscuring corners, pushing #bikeNYC from one side of the street to the other, while narrowing cycling lanes, strewing random hazards adjacent to remaining bike lanes, and maximizing conflicts with pedestrians.
All for >$50 million per mile!
When no acoustic bikes are available, Citibike members can get a white ebike for 45(+?) minutes at half-power for free.
