Very aware of him being a cunt, unaware of where he was from.

I imagine most people are just flat out unaware of him.

Presumably their preference is to give a set of Thatcherites yet another go and see if 10th times the charm

Indeed.

I have watched this approximately 47 times and laughed out loud 47 times

This stuff doesn’t tend to come from designers, it comes from business people, consultants, focus groups etc.

UI / UX Designers aren’t artists, in the conventional sense, and invariably get overruled by pressures from above.

In the spirit of the original iOS isn’t textures Jobs insisted on even!

To be fair, you actually get the right to give you more money later as a normal customer like the rest of us!

Their pricing model is just offensive; whack price up, cancel, offer 50% off and repeat every 3 months.

Awful company.

I’m enjoying the concept of β€˜stealth’ for a walking cathedral armed with plasma cannons. Love it.

It’s the money. Low end Premier League teams can outbid AC Milan for talent, so even the worst of them are staffed by players that would be in demand anywhere else, so standards have greatly increased

A depressing number of attempts is the charm, right!

Maybe cynical, but I think it ultimately boils down to the rich being happy to take fascism over any prospect of paying more tax / having their power curbed, so we get the choice of β€˜sensible’ centrist decline or mad far right chaos. The latter is low risk if you’re rich and white.

01.03.2026 16:31 πŸ‘ 29 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I think it’s more that the centrists across the world view meaningful change as more risky, than their approach letting the far right in. See Biden, Macron, post Brexit UK etc etc

I feel like the last 30 years teaches that the only way to guarantee being somewhat left alone is to have the damn things, and can’t blame any country for coming to that conclusion…

Maggie Thatcher would be shedding a single, proud tear.

You know, if she wasn’t on fire.

It’s amazing how repeated generations of politicians fall for the idea of bombing can make a population give in, or any subsequent change of admin will be very positive to the countries that blew their children to bits.

Especially in a country that internalised The Blitz as a core national myth.

β€˜Whoops we’ve obliterated another country and are outraged that people flee it.’

They’ve spent 19 years telling lost Scottish voters that they’re wrong and stupid, and are now repeating the experiment…

01.03.2026 13:54 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

β€˜Worst case there will be a sensible guy up next, he’ll sort things out and be a reliable partner for ever more.’

01.03.2026 13:27 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Absolutely. Probably better to be able to feel like everything is the result of someone’s rationale plan that’s meant to achieve something, as opposed to all this…

01.03.2026 13:09 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Also people, maybe understandably, what to think there’s some genius level strategic planning at work, despite all the recent evidence that these various leaders, billionaires, oligarchs etc are all morons blundering around in the dark, doing anything to maintain wealth / power / noncing access

Just the new version of the β€˜good’ Tories who were always ready to rebel and never did.

If they really want to make a stand, they could resign the whip or defect to the Greens.

01.03.2026 10:31 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Then when more people flee the carnage we’ve created, well, new people to blame and new crackdowns to get on with!

01.03.2026 10:30 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

They’re largely following the playbook Scottish Labour has since 2007 towards the voters they lost to the SNP, which will probably achieve a similar result…
