Ko Māwhera te kāinga. Ko Kevin tōku ingoa. Ex-Retired, Pākehā, gay, vegetarian, conservationist, public health advocate. Chief of Staff for the Green Party co-leaders’ office in Parliament, but this is my personal account.

Surf Life Saving strips convicted sex offender Tim Jago of honours, awards and life membership.
Is Tim Jago still a member of NZ ACT Party? I haven't heard any comment from them nor any apology to the young people Jago abused.

A cartoon by Ron Cobb (1975), showing a shadow of US B-52 bomber above cratered landscape. Two people who look like Vietnamese peasants look up; one says “they’re having problems with their economy again.”
This is from 1975.
What!?! How did the project with a lower budget than the other project that went overbudget already go overbudget??!
The news today that their replacement project is already breathtakingly overspent (with absolutely nothing to show for it) rather underlines the fact that the Government is clueless about ordinary people’s needs, and is governing instead for their mates
We have already lost 1 of the 3 ferries; on Sunday foot passengers had to disembark via the vehicle ramp (&way late); next they’re trying to get passengers to delay travel because there’s a mechanical problem with the other ferry and they need to try to find a way of moving freight
I make a couple of returns trips on the Interislander ferry every month. I am exasperated and angry at the deep ineptitude the government has shown in replacing the ferries and port facilities
Mick Herron evoking Starmer: “it was becoming clearer with each passing day that [his] great electoral advantage had consisted solely of his not being one of his five immediate predecessors, a hand he’d already overplayed. His government had hit the ground runny, like a jelly that hadn’t quite set;”
Can certainly try, he has a strong message which has been very compelling in the UK context (dismal, non-performing centrist Labour; rise of fascist nationalism on the right)
Good point! I promise to follow up
Ladies and gentlemen: your Prime Minister
Just following up on this. The bird link was, indeed, a legacy of happier days and is being removed in the website refresh. Thanks for letting me know about it
"This report makes clear what we have said all along: the Government's decision to make it easier to underpay people and limiting pay equity access is yet another attack on women," says the Green Party's spokesperson for women, Kahurangi Carter.

"It's clear this Government has done nothing to reduce child poverty, choosing landlords and the wealthy over our tamariki," says Green Party Co-leader and Child Poverty spokesperson, Marama Davidson.

A graphic with a dark green background displays the text: “Power company profits in 6 months: $1.85 billion” in large yellow lettering. Below, on a white torn‑paper texture, green text reads: “How’s your power bill going?” Small fine print at the bottom notes authorisation by Green MP Scott Willis
Meridian, Contact, Mercury and Genesis Energy are reporting record profits. Meanwhile, are your power bills any lower?
I have recently been looking at some of the comments on Green Party posts about our wealth tax approach. It quickly becomes clear that many people have no idea how great the wealth inequality is in our country. This thread helps.
Very, very good thread:
No pressure, right?

Yes, the fact it is the bird symbol makes me think it’s from an old system. We’re doing a website rebuild at the moment. I don’t know the tech side at all but assume that’s a good opportunity to axe that
Hmm. We haven’t used X for a few years, so I assume it’s a legacy system, but will follow up
Racism + though: as if they’re completely unaware that other people may not share their racism
It reminds me of West World: “It doesn’t look like anything to me”. My mind just glides off it
I have honestly tried. But I can’t get my head around Reform’s outrage that the Greens produced leaflets in Urdu. It can’t just be belief that people with ESL aren’t properly British and shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Legally they are. Do they think there’s an unwritten rule the Greens broke?
I reckon it’s Tay St, facing the Dee St intersection
Here’s Hannah’s awesome acceptance speech:

Not just a strong Green victory but the first Green MP in the Nthn England, and the first time in a century that Gorton in Manchester has not been won by Labour. A neolib labour rejection & the cookers are crunched.
We are watching Total Control on Netflix. Highly recommended. Also useful tips for my work
