I have clearly lived a sheltered life in which nobody has ever suggested to me that "Scientists don't want you to know...".
And as a scientist who lives on the made-up-theory end of things, let me assure you that there is no way you can *know*.
But it is still worth *thinking*.
When someone says βScientists do not want you to knowβ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They canβt shut up about what they found out and want you to know.
Isn't it the Pope who shits in the woods and the bears who are catholic?
Wait until you read the shocking exposΓ© of ursine al fresco toiletry habits.
I am terrified to leave my flat.
I am trans.
Politicians, the media, and JK Rowling have taught you to make my life a misery. And you do.
That is why I am terrified to leave my flat.
I still leave my flat.
I go and teach undergraduates mathematics.
They don't give a fuck that I am trans.
Life is tough when you're from 1953
And you look in the mirror thinking "Who are you? Not me!"
Am I gay, like the other kids say?
No, it's not who I fancy, it's who I am.
Figuring that out is tomorrow's jam.
(That mirror has always known me. It's in my brother's house now. I see it sometimes.)
In Defense of Effeminate Boys If anyone had suggested that I might really be a girl, I donβt know how I would have responded. By Ben Appel
No one before Ben has ever considered that trans women might actually be effeminate gay boys. No one has ever suggested such a thing to us, repeatedly, in a bid to prevent us from transitioning, or developed entire typologies around the idea, or reinforced it in multiple academic fields!
But I agree that there is a dignity backlog, which needs to be addressed in a way which reinforces everyone's dignity. There is no dignity in being a cut-throat.
The out-of-the-blue reference to anxiety about being called a Terf is quite the self-fitted cap.

Does the Mayor of London have the power of Naming Streets?
If so, might Glaswegians have a word about Grosvenor Square?
Those who order killings are guilty of murder.
Those who voted Trump ordered killings.
You think you can press the KILL button by voting for lethal politicians, and yet somehow not be those from whom legitimate self-defence defends?
If you *bomb* people. If you do the asymmetric warfare thing.
You are using your entire population as human shields.
Letβs just see how the BBC is framing this war of aggression, shall we?
British bases are being used by the US to attack Iran, in an unprovoked conflict. It's now a US-Israel-UK crime, and I'm not happy about it. I'm not sure I can wait for my next opportunity to merely not vote Labour to do something about it. But that, at least, is a given.
Particularly good gig for *Janet*.
When I was a precocious mathematician-child, it occurred to me that there could be such punctuation marks as "antiquotes", which would enable the speaker to insert editorial comment into their own framing narrative. Of course, that could never happen. Could it?

Any minute now, some power-crazed loon will just, I don't know, take out the East Wing of the White House.
I note that political murder is now an acceptible motivation for unlicensed warmaking. That's some sword to live by.
Ooh ooh! Gangsters 2!
It must be galling for Labour activists to see their leadership doubling down on the pissing away of the progressive vote. In fact, what are you even doing, being a Labour activist if you can't advance values of dignity and compassion?
On Thursday, the people of Gorton and Denton were asked to choose between Fear, Hate, and Hope. They chose Hope. The hissing gracelessness and cluelessness of the Fear and Hate people, in response to this, speaks much as to who they really are.
Labour Together's Board clueless about Labour Together, believe it or not!

And there is absolutely zero doubt on page and on screen about poor Miss Murgatroyd and desolate Miss Hinchcliffe.
From their mutual chemistry to the overwhelming grief and fury of the bereaved, they are a same-sex couple.
