Instead of walking alongside their child as the child figures things out, they are taxed with needing to literally uproot their life and go somewhere where they are allowed to ask these questions. It's an incredible burden to put on parents and kids.
Imagine your child is facing questions about gender. If govt lays a huge burden on you and makes you focus their attention on the law, it will take away from an already emotionally taxing but important journey with their child. Their child needs their full attention.
But when you surround the whole discussion with fear and shame, it takes away the space and air to figure it out without pressure.
For the love of God, let doctors, counselors, parents, and clergy figure this out with the kids they know and love. Stop inserting yourself where you don't belong.
But for some it is just a stage in figuring themselves out and ending up cisgender. When you try to pressure the process and tell parents how to navigate things with their own child, you do incredible harm. Most parents are NOT going to jump to the most irreversible interventions. They are cautious.
Something that is extremely dumb is constraining parents' ability to parent wisely when their child is exploring gender. This is a common developmental thing and some kids continue to identify as trans or nonbinary into adulthood ...
