Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.
My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

I just had this argument with someone. Every point I made about the dangers and problems with this tech eventually came up against the statement βwell, itβs inevitable,β which seems like a refusal to engage with any of those realities. Immensely frustrating.

Her husband wanted to use ChatGPT to create sustainable housing. Then it took over his life.
Kate Fox says Joe Ceccanti was the βmost hopeful personβ before he started spending 12 hours a day with a chatbot
βItβs difficult to understand the scale of the problem, but OpenAI itself estimates that more than a million people every week show suicidal intent when chatting with ChatGPT.β

Iβm sorry but theyβre making claims for this stuff like βitβs going to end disease in ten years.β If it does that I will cook and eat my shoes. Will it likely impoverish large numbers of people and cause a lot of misery? Yes. But letβs be clear about what hype weβre gonna believe.

He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota βquick reaction forcesβ β a military term β to go after βagitators.β Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trumpβs prior βdeescalationβ was a ruse and ICE is still operational

Just a quick update from the Twin Cities. (Please forgive the unsolicited message). THINGS ARE NOT BETTER IN MINNEAPOLIS. The media is mostly moving on, Trump is focused on other stuff, BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE GROUND. More than 2,000 DHS thugs continue to roam the streets, abducting people 24/7, assaulting legal observers with impunity, and routinely denying 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights. Drones and helicopters are overhead every day. Hundreds and hundreds of terrified families have not left their homes since mid-December ... relying on the community to bring them food and help with rent and other necessities. (Those people are NOT violent drug cartel sex offending murderers, as DHS would tell you. Most are legal residents or citizens.) If anything, things have just become more stressful and intractable (think trench warfare as a suitable metaphor): The resistance is better organized and numerous, but DHS has become more clever and better at disguise... and the county sheriff's office is increasingly supporting them . Do not let anyone tell you that Homans (the new person in charge of the occupation) is making anything better. Do not let anyone tell you that 700 ICE agents leaving the city has made much of a difference; the remaining force (again, ~2,000) is still larger than the entire city's police force (which is legally unable to do anything). Please call your congressional reps ... especially if there is any chance the administration might listen to them.
A desperate plea sent to me by a Minneapolis resident who's been on the front lines since the beginning of the ICE occupation:

Homeless Oregon youth got $1,000 a month for two years. Most found housing after β’ Oregon Capital Chronicle
Oregon is the second of its kind in the nation to implement the direct cash transfer program after New York City.
"By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed."
A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends.
Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.

DHS Hunts Down 67-Year-Old U.S. Citizen Who Criticized Them in Email
The Department of Homeland Security is using a little-known tool to go after its critics.
Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

Predicting that this week weβll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since theyβre starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

This is the escalation cycle I've been talking about for months, one Homan can't pretend DHS is not part of.
DHS adopts aggressive tactics and arrest quotas, the community responds angrily, agents mask up and DHS deploys more, the response gets bigger/angrier, agents get more aggressive, etc...
