I blame Stephen Miller.
it's insane that my country's current position is that, if we don't like the leader of a sovereign nation, not only do we get to kill them we get to pick their successor

That is the story of how I ended up working on a NCDOT landscape crew at age 19.

I'm thinking in particular of protecting trans people. To me, standing with every vulnerable target of fascism feels non-negotiable. Someone who says "I oppose them, but I'm on board with their effort to target *them*" is not someone I want on my side. I feel the same about targeting Jews.
As a progressive concerned about the same questions, agreeing very strongly about the importance of making common cause with people you disagree with about things you care about, to me the real difficulty is that some obvious points of disagreement today land painfully on my red lines.
Here's the line that struck me especially

This is a naked political retribution directed at Minnesotans who defended their cities from ICE's street executions and masked kidnappings
Last night I dreamed I was at a rooftop party in NYC. Duke was playing at MSG so I was relieved to learn everyone there were Tar Heel fans. David Noel was there & he proceeded to quiz me about UNC basketball lore to be sure I was a real fan. Yes everything is going great in my unconscious, thanks.
Dear Friends, Today marks two years since the North Carolina Supreme Court reheard arguments for the Leandro case, and over three years since Leandro funding was halted. I was part of the majority on the Court in 2022 that upheld the lower courtβs order requiring the state to meet its constitutional obligation to provide every child the opportunity for a sound based education in a uniform system of public education.
In 2023, the Court flipped and put a stop to that order. Now, three years later, the funds for public education are in limbo as there has been no ruling in the case. In my public dissent to the Courtβs Order in 2023 I wrote: βToday's order abandons the concepts of respect for precedent, law of the case, stare decisis, and the rule of law all in the name of preventing the State from complying with its constitutional duty to provide a sound basic education to the children of this state.β

An ICE agent shot and killed Ruben Ray Martinez, a US citizen and San Antonio resident, in March 2025. Then ICE and the Texas Department of Public Safety covered it up. He was 23 years old. I am calling for a full investigation into this shooting, including why there was an 8-month cover up.
Ruben Ray Martinez was shot through his driver's-side window in South Padre Island, Texas.

The reason this guy has so much trouble answering this question, compared to Southern politicians in the Jim Crow south or someone like Nick Fuentes, is that he's not willing to use the same language he uses in the group chat to express himself in a public forum like a Senate hearing.
The Orange County Health Department said a person with measles visited the Goodwill on Weaver Dairy Road in Chapel Hill between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, and those who visited the store at that time may have been exposed.

Cannot believe I have to dedicate any of the very limited room in my brain to think about [the very seriousness of] measles.
