Not only an article of interest in its field, but also a nice application of a method - event history analysis - that is used in other disciplinary sub-fields. Great things always occur when crossing disciplinary boundaries!

๐ฐ Dual-earner couples have the highest probability to cohabit
๐โโ๏ธ Men's employment remains a precondition for cohabiting
๐ผ Temporary employment does not discourage cohabitation.
I'm looking forward to future research and new data on this topic! (also: to seeing again 2 papers published in 2 days...๐ฎ)
While it is increasingly common to have a partner while residing in separate households, research often assumes that individuals transition from being single to cohabitation directly.
Drawing on 13 waves of the German Family Panel Pairfam (2008โ2021), we find that:
The last chapter of my PhD thesis, coauth. with @nhiekel.bsky.social & @agnese-vitali.bsky.social
and hosted by @mpidr.bsky.social, was published on the European Journal of Population:
doi.org/10.1007/s106...
We study the econ determinants of the transition from living apart to living together ๐ซ:
The study, based on GGS @ggp.bsky.social & ESS @ess-survey.bsky.social, shows that young people all over EU consider it ideal to start to cohabit, marry, and become parents during their 20s but, on average, experience these events later than their ideal timeline.
๐ปCountry & gender diff. persist.
Entry into adulthood is being postponed, but when do young adults intend and deem ideal to experience events? ๐ญA joint work w/ K. Schwanitz @utu.fi, @francescorampazzo.com & @agnese-vitali.bsky.social reveals mismatches btw ideals and reality โฌ๏ธ:
