The horse:
A bright blue sky behind a Saucer Magnolia tree with rich pink tulip-like blooms, most still budded up. There are no leaves at this point, just the blooms and branches.
Snapped a pic of my Saucer Magnolia in case the cold temps destroy the beautiful buds.

I was thinking this the other day with a sense of encroaching depression: I have written fictional villains whose inner landscapes are magnitudes more complex and sympathetic than some of the world's richest people.

Own books. Dog-ear pages. Put 50 sticky notes in them. Listen to the page turn. Buy a 150-year-old book and read it. Look at the smudges on it, the foxing & toning of the leaves. Imagine who read it - this tangible, physical thing - before you. Who will after you. Physical things rule.

Last night I went to the Puca Festival in Trim, Ireland.
It's all fun and games until someone unleashes a giant demonic hare.
This is a personal work, the first one in years, I could manage to spend some time on it despite all my current works, but I needed to do it and the most important thing, it’s probably one of the paintings I enjoyed most in a while!
