If we’re considering candidates based solely on merit then of course someone with credentials and the lived experience of being disadvantaged will make them an even more qualified leader. Especially in positions where they are expected to make decisions that affect people with similar experiences
The thing about the outrage over DEI is that people fail to consider that getting to a point where you’re qualified for a position of power AND have a marginalized identity you have already exemplified a resilience and determination that most white cis straight men don’t need to have to get there

This ideology has seeped its way into people that I love and trust. I’m heartbroken and I’m angry but I know that the community I hold around me will always be a safe place for trans people. I will do everything in my power to keep it that way. Literal lives depend on it
The idea that being supportive and following evidence based life saving practice to support our most vulnerable youth by affirming who they are is indoctrination is absurd. I have friends who have the view that my support of the trans people in my life pressured them into medically transitioning.
I am committed to always being a safe adult for youth no matter who they are. The government will not and can not force me in to changing that.
