Trying to be more curious. It’s hard to post anything but politics as our nation implodes. But the Medievalsky community is delightful. FYI: I rarely follow additional accounts that post really often. It’s not you, it’s me.

I was sad to lose my 30-year-old Reverewarew, but it was worth it. Much improved air quality. The oven doesn’t need fancy features.

Yes, this is an excellent piece of investigation, narration, and accountability, by Mike Baker and Steven Rich in @nytimes.com Very much worth going back to read.

After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative.

The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools

I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.

This is learned today:

Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%.

States could do us all a big favor and write product liability laws that make car companies liable for self-driving accidents no matter how many "waivers" they make customers sign.

If car companies don't like it, they can keep their products off the market until they are actually safe.

Q: You said the war is 'very complete.' But your defense secretary says 'this is just the beginning.' So which is it?

This story has everything, a focus on desal that led to overlooking other water sources, a city manager making $400K/yr saying don’t panic, a former water system manager saying residents should absolutely panic, and magical thinking: “The last hope to avert disaster was a 20- to 30-inch rainfall.”

“It is becoming increasingly hard to avoid the conclusion that the Trump administration has embarked on this operation without a plan, and is making it up as it goes along, as if they killed enough of the right people and destroyed enough Iranian assets everything would fall into place.”

"I think the LLM is conscious" makes a lot more sense when you realize a lot of people don't grasp the interiority of other people.

If you view other people as a series of inputs and utilities, it makes a lot of sense that you would see inert code awaiting your prompt as conscious.

The astonishing number of the rioters who already had convictions for domestic violence was never publicized enough. There’s a reason so many partners, spouses, children, other family members turned them in as rioters faster than the FBI could process them all.

Or even the news in the last 1-20 years? The Kurdish rebels in Turkey JUST reached an agreement to disarm after literal decades of insurgency. This is among the most ignorant and dangerous paths this “administration” could take in its already illegal and immoral war of aggression

both the msm and too many liberals ignore the fact that religious black voters, particularly regular churchgoing black women, are the core of the democratic party. without that demo, the democratic party literally ceases to exist.

I know that the people who need to read this aren’t here, but here goes:

Rules of engagement aren’t for the enemy. They’re for you. They’re for your soldiers when they’re captured or wounded. They’re for your civilians when they’re in range of the enemy. They’re for your allies, to reassure.
