A new paper led by former PhD Student Michael Martin suggesting that glacier speed-up might be an early indicator of volcanic eruptions. All funded by @leverhulme.bsky.social.

@joemallalieu et al studied ice velocities at >200K volcanoes to find that glaciers within 5 km of active volcanoes flow 46% faster than elsewhere, suggesting that glacier velocity could be a tool for volcano monitoring & eruption prediction.
