I saw he’ll be in concert in the US in a month or so
Jesus Christ I can’t even open the news any more
Just so apalling
Today I learned the developer pronounces “Deus Ex” as “Deuce Ex” and I don’t know if I can handle that
Very interested to see how similar Marathon is to Destiny
All this violence was completely needless
Totally unnecessary
Fuck this president
PG&E is a parasite
So I wonder how the new leader of Iran is going to act toward the country that murdered his father
What stupid fucking idea to attack Iran
Trackmania seems like it would be a perfect fit for phones, but alas, no mobile port exists 👎
Damn this president
Damn him straight to hell
What an absolute fucker
I’m not worried about the Sacklers shooting people

“Supreme Court Appears Skeptical of Law Banning Drug Users From Owning Guns”
Are you fucking serious right now?!?!?!
I just can’t even
Na na na na na na naa
The US attacking Iran is no better than Russia attacking Ukraine
Fuck this shit
Ya know what the world absolutely *doesn’t* need right now? Another fucking war.
Jesus Christ
I think we all need some NEWS FROM CANADA right now, and this one was a particularly good one
👍
I just finished Metro 2033, and I have to say, I loved it. It’s another game (like Batman Arkham Asylum) where the developers just nailed the tone they were going for. They somehow made a series of corridors simultaneously tactically interesting, distinct, and memorable. Well done to 4A Games.
Oh my gosh stop attacking countries!!!
Just stop
No one wants this
- No package to access iCloud Drive
All of these things (HBO Max, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, yt-dlp work out of the box on both Mac and Windows)
I realize you didn't ask for this, but here are more things that don't work on Linux:
- Can't watch HBO Max
- yt-dlp reports 403 unauthorized for every video (but the MacPorts yt-dlp on Mac works on the same videos just fine)
- Neither the onedrive nor the onedriver Ubuntu package work
Re: X11 and trust, I thought this (very old) blog post was interesting: www.jwz.org/xscreensaver...
From some online searching, it looks like the screen lock timeout thing is implemented by two totally independent systems which have no knowledge of each other but interact de-facto: gsettings and xset.
typical linux bullshit
*Files app
(The Settings app did, however, tell me to sign up for Ubuntu Pro)
Also: performance. GTK is just so fast. Liquid Glass makes my personal Mac (2019 Intel Mac Pro) feel glacial. In GTK, there are no shadows or reflections slowing things down. It just draws what I want to see.
- Using the Settings app to set the automatic screen lock timeout has no effect whatsoever
THAT BEING SAID, when things DID work, they had a simplicity to them that reminded me of the 90s. There were no ads in my start menu. The Settings app didn’t tell me to sign up for iCloud.
- Can’t show HDR video
- After updating the software using the software update app, a bunch of apps crashed on launch until I rebooted. The app gave no indication that I needed to reboot to get things to work.
- I installed a video editor app but I had to install video codecs separately.
My reaction is a bit more subtle than I made it out to be above.
I was reacting to the fact that a bunch of stuff doesn’t work.
- The computer fails to wake up from sleep half the time.
- Copying data over LAN via smb through the Files only copies at like 10MB/s.
I tried using Linux again for the first time in a few years.
It's still a piece of crap
My favorite technical features in video games:
- Inverse kinematics
- Tessellated snow deformation
- Particles that bounce off of things
Dear New York Times,
This is not news.
