I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going “wow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic

Right like, rather than redact or rework egregious pieces, we just get stuck with them. Complaints of "that's out of their budget!" fall flat on me, do the research in the first place then!!

Genuinely I wish the dev team had a stronger sense of style for an in-world setting, because I feel like it's lacking. Saying this as a creative critique! But it borrows so frequently that it often lacks its own cohesive visual identity.
