Working on single aphid DNA extractions today! I want to look at how plant defenses influence aphid microbial allies. So the first step to peering into the microbial world is through the aphid’s DNA, especially because their microbial allies are present in their guts.
More no choice tests, where insects are cages to one individual plant. Hoping to see how each plants defensive phenotype (observable characteristics) influence insect symbionts (their microbial allies)! I’ll be presenting my findings at a conference this spring!
