Hi Michael, there's a balance for sure. The average home needs 8kW to heat with a DT of 24 between in and out temperaturs. So it only needs around 4000J/s (4kW) when it's a more common DT of 12. What does the homes heat load need to be reduced to with insulation?
Hi Michael, heat pumps don't need installation to work. They've been heating UK buildings before this country had natural gas boilers (the first Methane ship didn't turn up to Canvey Island till 1959) ...
A glass fronted Marquee at the house of commens is heated with them π
Hi Cliff, who is your council
Hi Monika, UK hospitals have thousands of heat pumps...
Here are some at my local
Have a great break everyone.

Thanks Steve π
Thanks Adrian. Appreciate that. For dyslexic people like myself, who have the ideas in my head but struggle to elucidate them with words AI has been massively beneficial. Mind you, I do end up iterating many more times than most I imagine ππ
People (good people) get very confused about fabric and its potential (it only has one lever) and promote "fabric first" not understanding that heat input has two levers. I wrote this to help people:
www.linkedin.com/posts/nathan...
Oh, without a doubt. Helping people understand they are everywhere is very helpful. It's estimated there are 5 billion (not million) compressors on the planet. When I ask people to elucidate what they mean by "in reverse" they always struggle to expand on the statement.
We've installed them in Russia. They work fine. Pretty cold out there
I was with @janrosenow.bsky.social at this event at the house of commens terrace pavilion. It's a glass fronted Marquee heated with heat pumps. Heat pumps have been heating UK buildings before this country got it's first shipment of Methane in 1959
Hi HumanTravl, yes this is an often used analogy. Arguably not a helpful one. Nothing is in reverse. A heat pump is just an evaporator moving energy to a condenser, whether a fridge, slush puppy machine, air con unit or an air to water heat pump.
You are very correct. Super efficient
The Latest heat pump case study installed by an engineer in the Guild of Master Heat Engineers is now on BetaTeach.co.uk
You've had Zero Disrupt Heat Pump Installations from @heat-geek.bsky.social Now take a listen to hear what EDF have come up with which is similar

Wow... that's interesting. That was fine from asking AI?
Yes, very complimentary...Many of the Guild engineers will be HG's
Case studies have now started π

Really enjoyed this. We should do another
All good Ben, just launched the Guild of Master Heat Engineers
www.betateach.co.uk/c/guild
Nice chap. He was recently on my podcast
They certainly do

You can find details of systems here. This particular case study is in an old building. I interviewed the property owner last night for an upcoming podcast

The Guild of Master Heat Engineers is up and running.
Check it outπ
