These came with a 1.6 or 1.8 power plant that made some noise and could move the vehicle at freeway speeds.

Street Parked: Subaru BRAT. Yes, all caps because it’s an acronym. This little truck is a Bi-drive, Recreational, All terrain, Transporter.

Notice the Kompressor badge? That denotes that this car’s engine has a supercharger. It’s a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder and makes 190hp. You could have a manual or automatic. They made an AMG model with a supercharged V6 that made 350 hp; big fun.

I’ve never driven one but quite like the looks.

While the L did stand for light, compared to a ‘96 Miata, it was portly. My ‘96 Miata weighed 2050 lbs (930 kg). An SLK weighed around 3000 lbs (~1400 kg). To be fair, the SLK has a metal folding roof and luxury stuff like power windows, AC, and sound deadening that my R Package Miata didn’t have.

The SLK (German acronym for Sports, Light, Compact) was born in the 90s when all the car companies saw what a smash hit the Miata was and thought “hey, we can do that too”.

The SLK 230 debuted in 1996 alongside its fellow German sports car competitors, the BMW Z3 and Porsche Boxster.

Street Parked Topless Tuesday Edition: I saw this Mercedes Benz SLK 230 back in October and was charmed by the color. These are cool little sports cars. This one is from the late ‘90s, before the style refresh of 2000.

We had a fun day at Pike Place Market today exploring the new hill climb park. It reminds me of the Highline in NYC with little spots to sit and savor the view.

Such a lovely day today, it felt like Spring.

Jimmy is in the “I see sun, why is it cold?” part of Winter. The struggle is real. Being a teenage dog with the associated memory makes it a bit frustrating. I love him, so I let him in and out as he wishes.

Enzo seems a little confused by this behavior and usually stays inside, where it’s warm.

When will people notice the pattern that the economy and stock market perform better when Democrats are in power?

Can we normalize ridiculing these utter numbskulls? If you’re going to fear monger at least do in a way that doesn’t make you look utterly stupid.

Today I learned Time magazine is still a thing.

Dream Bret would take this car on a road trip in Europe with a few track days for good measure. How fun would it be to power through Eau Rouge at Spa Francorchamps?

These cars came with 260 hp and could very easily be tuned for much more power.

I of course have dreams of a snazzy Buick wagon with a ton of power and suspension modifications.

Street Parked: This Buick Roadmaster wagon is the last of its breed. This is the last full size American station wagon made. These came with a v8, of course. The beauty of these cars is that by the mid 90s, when these cars were made, the GM v8 was a very good engine.
