I can attest to that. I was in a friendly desert locale faithfully facing an Arab dictator after we beat him in Kuwait. The giant Air Force bird with our gear seemed pinned by gravity to an island in the Med (as if the aircrew wanted it that way). We hung on and trained with forces of a future king.
