I'd buy a copy at that price for sure

Also this might be a totally wild and radical idea but maybe just telling the truth is fine? Maybe even pivot to a talking point? "I've never been an Oasis fan myself, but [grassroots music venues]/[working class aspirations]/[value of British cultural exports]"
Welcome to the consistent, arrogant inability of most British parliamentary candidates to learn the MOST BASIC AND OBVIOUS things about the constituency in which they're standing. The sheer contempt with which damn near every party views the actual electorate
No bookmarks in mine but it's well-used! I need to make another batch of the onion-tomato masala at some point, so good to have it on hand to make a decent curry quickly
Post a banger that isn't in English
youtu.be/Bc_ckmFszbU?...
Scottish here, can absolutely verify that's true, or at least it feels like it during Festival season
Actually do you know what, I don't know why I feel the need to defend myself and qualify it like that. I do enjoy the limited time I spend with kids, but I enjoy it in small quantities. Not particularly liking children or wanting to spend all my time with them doesn't, I think, make me a bad person.
100% on board with this. I met the right person already, nearly 20 years ago, and neither of us want kids. We love spending time with our nieces and our friends kids, but it's just never been on the agenda for either of us.
My go to here is Just Cause 2. I have a save sitting at something like 50% total map completion and, when the world gets too much, I just drop in and tool around blowing shit up with some good tunes or a podcast on in the background. I've tried 3 and 4 but neither capture the magic for some reason
Almost nothing else I remember from that now (insane given the presence of Chiang's *Story of Your Life*), but almost physical memories of the feel of this huge book full of possibilities. It seemed endless, enthralling, terrifying.
My high school library had a bunch of the Dozois-edited "Year's Best" collections and they were formative. Looking at 16 it had "Oceanic" by Egan (which I still vividly recall and is possibly his best work) and "Craphound" by Doctorow, both of which opened my mind to the genre in different ways.
We're currently at the "just put a whole new roof on it" stage of dealing with this fucking problem so, yeah
Ever wonder what it takes to port a retro game to a modern console? Emulators are just one piece of the pie...or pancake, as it were! Revenue sharing and licensing hell and legal battles, oh my! Listen on as @gamedocs.bsky.social and Bill Litshauer of @implicitconversions.com dive deeper!
I love to have a home base where all my companions hang out between missions, especially if I can upgrade it and do little mini missions / activities while I'm there. Double bonus points if it gives an opportunity for otherwise serious characters to show their goofier side for a while.
It's been a while since I worked in anything adjacent to your space, but I retain an interest out of a kind of professional fascination/horror. Really liking the mix of SEO-specific stuff with infrastructural big picture. The cURL thing is... concerning, to say the least
I'm super interested in this and will be subscribing. I hate to tell you but unfortunately your second link here appears broken due to an extraneous dash - "https://buttondown.com/thisstationisnonoperational-"
Their most recent album, Winged Victory, is also stunning BTW
Headline: "Scientists discover emperor penguin colony in Antarctica using satellite images"
Yesterday it was cows using tools, today its penguins using satellite imagery.
We hired a screen out for a friend's stag do! Hooked up consoles to the big screen, hung out, drank a bunch. They catered pizzas and chicken strips and stuff. A cinema done right can be a community space as much as just a place to watch a film.
I live in a tiny town in the north of Scotland and we go one town over all the time to the cinema. Fun thing about a small cinema run by passionate people is they do cool stuff! Cult classics at Christmas and Halloween, indie film in the small screens, live event cinema and more
One not like this: guy trying to make gochujang pasta for dinner and fucks it up by adding too much sugar. Asks AI and it's like "sure, here's a recipe for gochujang cookies!"
OK, so plausibly a viable use of some fucked up ingredient but doesn't solve the actual problem that HE STILL HAS NO DINNER
Two personal favourites, one in this genre and one different but equally baffling / frustrating.
Like this: kid visibly already in a museum/gallery in Korea, asks AI what to do for the next hour.
AI: "Maybe look at some Korean history"
Kid: "Well we are in Korea! THANKS GEMINI"
It's a brilliant project and really made me think. I listen to and love (and recommend) a lot of music but to pick just one or two albums, knowing they'll be actually listened to and considered? That's a different prospect
ยฃ3-4ish, with the caveat that I'm about as remote and rural as it gets in the UK, which can affect pricing as much as urban density does
Or obviously if the answer is one and one only, I just ran out of characters above
I have been agonising over my choices for this since you announced it, and I have whittled it down to two possibilities, between which I cannot choose. Would it be hugely outwith the spirit of the project to submit both? Understand if you'd then prioritise other suggestions over the second of mine
Merry Christmas everyone! We've got presents for the game preservation community this year: under the tree are 11 professional Betacam tapes from Activision, Tecmo, and Vivendi! We'll be opening one per day starting tomorrow, so join our discord if you want to vote on which one to open first!
This is stunning
Having watched, in relatively quick succession, La Chimera and Wake Up Dead Man, this might now become just a 24/7 Josh O'Connor fan account.
