To me it's a ground-level aesthetic and thematic botching layered with an intense focus on the at-the-time budding "Sloperator" aesthetic that infects every aspect of the game, especially Noble Team.

People pissed and moaned about it lacking a backplate for months, but like, it's still a MJOLNIR bodysuit that can take bullets.
Also if you're getting shot at enough for a backplate to matter, you're already fucked. It's a stealth suit. You don't get pissed at Snake for wearing cammies!
Yes I know you reposted this from 8 months ago, but as an aside, I'm really glad they didn't go with the gloveless look for Rakshasa in Halo (the first pic). Gloveless Spartans just feel... Wrong.
That said it's my third favorite armor set in Halo because it makes a lot of sense upon analysis.
Honestly, the longer Halo's canon treads on, the funnier Operation Red Flag is to me as a concept, because it just continually becomes more and more pointless sounding.
I think they kinda went with the opposite approach to figure that out.
You might like the Primitive Armor/Commercial Armor rules, where they start discussing Barrier Armor Rating, where Primitive units have a lower BAR and thus can be penned by sufficiently beefy hits.

More freehand practice. Lots of markings need cleaning up but I have never in my life tried to do kanji before with a pen, much less a brush so I'm pretty pleased with them.

I mean honestly, fuel farms in my experience are largely just giant fucking pillows of highly flammable liquid sequestered into a silo'd section of base (in the sense they are concrete fortified to basically become isolated hazard zones in the case of spillage).
