Starmer’s anti-spiking law is a needless stunt
Keir Starmer has announced that he will introduce new legislation to make the spiking of drinks a specific criminal offence. It sounds harmless, but it is entirely unnecessary. Drink spiking is clear...
Spiking someone's drink, especially preparatory to sexual assault, is obviously a serious offence and carries a severe sanction. There do seem to be problems with enforcement, but creating a new offence where one clearly exists is not what the criminal law is for.

Sunday round-up 17 November 2024
Scorsese, DeVito, Jack Vettriano and RuPaul are all celebrating, but we mark the death of Mary I and of Catholic England

OK, I have no idea how this will go, but this is neither folk dancing nor incest, so far as I'm aware, so I'm trying it. I'll be interested to see how it goes. Anyway you should all subscribe to my blog: theideaslab.substack.com
