I don't think they are finally getting off the ride at Year 10 because they can't tolerate it any longer. That was a 2018 decision.
*successfully rigged at least
Minor thought: if these guys thought there was a serious chance the whole thing would be rigged in their favour, they wouldn't be slipping away like this would they right
Maybe a beagle?
Labs and retrievers are much more good natured and trainable to Mullins.
That's the thing, Trump can't fire anyone because their bench is empty. They are down to MOC who are true believers and dependent on them for political survival and even them they are jumping ship.
He challenged someone testifying in front of a committee to a physical fight right then and there... prepping by taking of his ring and loosening his tie. Inhofe was loud and wrong but I always got the sense is was a theatrics more than anything else. Mullin is just that dumb.
ICE is STILL in Minnesota and STILL terrorizing communities. Reporters that say otherwise are either uninformed (which....) or lazy (which... ) or just repeating regime lies (which... is also extremely bad).
People are still missing, people are and will be traumatized, businesses demolished...
❤️
Very true. $3,000 per middle class family invested in public goods creates much more than $3,000 worth of value/family.
I would far rather see $3k invested in public schools than have $3k to spend on education.
*fiscal system but yeah absolutely
Greg: Good. But, Swin, there will never be a day when you are invited on to talk about good news.
Brutal.
@gregsargent.bsky.social, a cup of sunshine to start the day. This is how today's podcast started:
@swin24.bsky.social : I wish you could once have me on to talk about something sunny and not fucking infuriating; but here we are every single time you invite me on your pod. How's it going, Greg? +
The Tolerance Paradox is not a paradox because tolerance is not a moral absolute.
Tolerance part of the social contract and if you break the social contract, the rest of us have a **moral obligation** to enforce the terms of the contract.
Places like MO will simultaneously vote for unambiguously progressive policies and the politicians who *promise* to override those polices **on the same ballot** because there is a gapping hole were small-p progressive, big-D Democratic messaging should be.
This is why the consulting class is KILLING Democratic politics. They look for the least objectionable policy instead of building messaging that helps people resolve their contradictory opinions in favor of progressive politics, leaving the field wide open to rightwing propaganda.
I grew up in a liberal household DEEP in the rural Bible Belt. Heavily ingrained with respecting other's political views (even if they very obviously did not respect mine).
Fuck that.
They are hypocritical and cruel. It is a moral obligation to treat that as abhorrent.
And this is why I didn't watch FNL. Too close to home to be fun.
One of the messages I see most on social media is some variant of: “no one cares as much as you do.”
Living in Minnesota through the ICE occupation has taught me that it’s untrue. It honestly might have been disinformation the whole time.
Email to USA Hockey
Formal invitation to the hockey team sent,,, if any people with connections to the hockey team wanna have them email my team my bio. I’m for real. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Again, Flavor Flav has been walking the walk of his Olympic fandom and his fierce support of women’s teams for a while now. I really hope they go.
If only we approached this understanding that "my liberation is bound up with yours." Visible social disorder *is distressing*, it should be. We are highly social animals who are not actually supposed to live in situations with enormous wealth inequality and social isolation.
If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite ,,, I’ll host them in Las Vegas. Do some nice dinners and shows and good times.
I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I know smart, well-intentioned people whose lives mean their news & social media consumption is just not enough for "Elon is a creep who lies about everything" to break through in a meaningful way.
And when, in the past, has it been part of the car-buying process to do a deep dive on the CEO?
I agree with you. The veil was lifts a long time ago.
And, for the people who are not chronically online (guilty), it was really easy to miss because our technology and business journalism has largely become stenographers for tech CEOs, credulously reporting out every hype cycle.
It isn't full justice for sure. But they got Al Capone on tax evasion...
The surge in violence meted out by ICE absolutely should continue to be condemned, but I think a lot of people didn't realize or care that activists have been facing life-altering injury from cops for generations. "Law enforcement" has always been the violence. It ALL needs to stop.
I cannot get over how unambigous the langauge about the ICE activity in MN **used by the federal government** is that of an invasion and occupation.
They "conducted a surge", they are (supposedly) doing a "drawdown", but are going to leave a "security force."
