Hi Erik, I’m Marie and I would like to be added to the feed. I do mitochondrial DNA variant research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I’ve been the curator of the Mitomap.org database since 1996. My ORCID ID is orcid.org/0000-0003-20...
Thanks!

Voyage of the Moons

This is a video I made in 2018 showing moons Europa and Io out in front of Jupiter then Titan with Saturn.

Made with still imagery taken by NASA’s Cassini mission.

Count me in, too. I’ve had my SeeStar for a year now and love it!

And in case you’re wondering, I attached the CaK-line filter to the Seestar S50 with an adapter at the end of a 3D-printed dew shield, all underneath some Baader Astrosolar film for optics protection.

The filter is an old model 1.25” Baader CaK-line filter (8nm pass, 390-398nm) purchased many years ago from either Agena Astro or B&H PhotoVideo. A “GenII” version of this Baader K-line filter is available from many astro shops. Alpine Astro also makes a CaK-line filter now.

I’m an Observing Program Director and Master Observer with the Astronomical League. I enjoy imaging the sun and occasionally do some nighttime astrophotography. I also am outreach coordinator for our local astronomy club.

When Space Junk Fell on My Neighbor’s Farm, the Law Had Few Answers for Us A Saskatchewan farmer’s near miss with potentially lethal debris falling from orbit highlights the skyrocketing risks and murky politics of space junk

Just off BBC Radio Scotland, talking about 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿ScotRail's decision to sign up to Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet for all their Highland trains. I think I rather upset presenter Kaye Adams with this story of space junk falling from the sky...😬🔭

Happy to be on BlueSky, so here's a Purple Sun to start!
This is an image I took of the sun last month with a Seestar S50 telescope. The purple color is from a short wavelength violet filter (Baader K-line) which pulls out a little more surface detail.
